https://vimeo.com/145825713 <- video of shooting clay with RRL

Several people pointed today that my RRL sounds weird. I am newbie so I have no idea what is right and what is wrong here. You can hear ringing sound very well when I shoot from bottom barrel. It is almost like I shoot steel target instead of clay.

Is this normal sound for Red Label?

Are you shooting top barrel first? I hear the sound on your 2nd shot, but only maybe once faintly on the first.

Sounds to me like the rib is resonating. I believe the RRL has a floating rib, in that the posts are dovetails and the rib slides over it and is secured at the front and back, which leaves the rib floating on the dovetails in between.

Try putting a couple wraps of electrical tape around the barrels and rib to hold the rib down and dampen any vibrations and see if that helps. It will not be a solution, but it will help isolate the issue and provide a foundation for a solution if that is indeed whats happening.

Yes, I shoot top barrel first.

My first RRL (new model) had bad metal connections and the first time out, the spacer at the muzzle separated from the bottom barrel. After it made a trip to Ruger, the hanger for the forend fell off. So by all means, look for some parts that are loose.

The replacement was sold new-in-the box before something else fell off.

For the record, it still have a 30+ year old 20 ga RRL that is still going strong.

I believe the ringing is normal. My new RRL rings like a bell as does my brother's RRL. If you have the barrel off, shake the receiver and you'll hear it faintly ring. I believe the ringing comes from the two cocking rods though I could be wrong.
