I'm looking for a late season pheasant gun and I like the gold labels single trigger (because of wearing gloves) and they come with choke tubes. Any thoughts on this model??

I think it would make a great pheasant gun. I've owned a bunch of Red Labels but never a gold label. Wish I had one. Just my thoughts. Grade6man

I bought one not too long after they became available....15+ years ago. I was fortunate enough to actually shoot one before I decided to buy one. The first two I looked at did not impress me much with fit and finish. The one I did finally buy has excellent fit and finish with very nice wood. I have other shotguns, some considerably more expensive but, this GL is definitely a keeper. I have been more than happy with it. Now, others will be along to tell you what a piece of crap it is.....most of which have never handled one much less owned one. My experience with it has been great.

I seen this Thread so I just had to comment about the Ruger Gold Label.
I am not a Shotgun type person, but I always wanted a Side by Side Shotgun. When I was in Prescott/Prescott Valley Arizona, I first seen the Ruger Gold Label in Ruger's 2002 Catalog. I knew I wanted it. Sightings of the RGL began in the Fall of 2004, I got mine in February 2005. My RGL is the English Straight Grip model.
I really like my RGL. It is very light weight, perfect for roaming my flat rolling fields. It's Single Trigger requires no thought for a follow up shot. I like the extra Chokes it came with, and how you can change the chokes for whatever conditions. Currently I have Skeet and Improved Cylinder in. When I practice shooting Clay Pigeons in the Barn Yard, I seem to do best with them. I have never shot 3" shells. I have never had a problem with the RGL.
A word of warning; the Barrels are very slim and trim. This is not a Shotgun to be thrown around. Also the Choke Tubes are Cereal Box Cardboard thin. Make sure they are seated in the muzzles correctly.
The RGL is one of my most prized Guns, and is treated like it is the last one on Earth. I am very careful with it. I am the only one that handles it, shoots it, and cleans it. My RGL would pass as Brand New, White Box and all its Accoutrements.
Unfortunately my Pheasant Season usually consists of one evening. I am usually Busy and the Weather usually doesn't cooperate out at the Farm.
Hope this helps. The Best to you and your Endeavors.
