Stoeger, Browning, CZ, and I think Yildiz make them. My personal recommendation would be a youth model Remington 1100, in 20 ga. 28 (and .410) ga. ammo is quite expensive.

I agree with DWT IF the youth can handle the weight of an 1100. They are available with shorter barrels, which may be beneficial and their stocks can be shortened to about 12."

How old and how large is the youth?

Do you reload shells?

Purchased the Yildiz 20 ga, nice. The stock is a bit long but Glen Smith with be fitting her in a couple of weeks. I load about 10 gr of Intl with 3/4 loads and the gun is a pup and she still manages to take a few dove off the wire with it Matter of fact last week she killed her first flying bird with it. Cant wait to get the gun fitted to her, she really enjoys it. :)

28 ga is the best first shotgun and if you reload it is cheep on ammo

Without exception all parents / husbands who have taken our advice have developed shooters in their family.

I have a couple Zoli over unders in 28 gauge. Cut down for youth. If a 20 gauge pump is too heavy I bring these out. It keeps them shooting and is not near as finicky as the 410.
