Hello everyone. I'm new here. I have been a pistol owner/shooter for 5 years now and have probably 40 to 50k rounds through my pistols with training and all but I am new to shotguns.

I am looking to get a rifled barrel 870 for shooting cabot slugs but the only model is the slug barrel model that had the 4 shell mag tube which is lame. Does anybody know of a rifled barrel that will fit say a standard 12 ga 870 express?

Brownell is your friend both for barrels and mag tube extensions. I suspect Midway and Midwest would also be good places to check.

Part of the problem of trying to turn an 870 into a rifle is that the barrel can move slightly in the receiver when it is fired and cycled. You will never notice any difference when firing shot but this can play havoc when shooting slugs with a scope. The answer is to have the barrel permanently pinned in place. It makes cleaning a little more difficult but greatly improves groups. A friend bought a Hastings cantilever barrel and sent it off to have it pinned in place.
I shot it off sand bags and was reliably able to hit Coke cans at 100 yards.

The 4 shell magazine tube is the standard for the 870 Express. If you wish to get a rifled barrel to fit a MODEL 870 EXPRESS SYNTHETIC TACTICAL 7 ROUND* that uses a 6 round magazine tube, that would be a custom gunsmithing project. The barrel ring would have to be relocated.
