I'm hoping the shortage will help me out.
A few weeks ago, I bought a Remington Express 870 TRAP with a 30 inch barrel.
A few days ago, never having fired it, I brought it back to my LGS and asked them to sell it for me. (No returns & I knew that). I am hoping someone Desparate for a HD 870 will buy it and cut the barrel off or find a short barrel for it. If the shortage helps the sale, that is OK with me.
Nice gun, but I decided I didn't want to mess around with light loads and recoil issues at my old age. I've since bought a Rem. V3 but will have to wait two or three weeks for it, even though it was In Stock (I hope).
I couldn't use either of them for a while, either.

There is a silver lining to this big nasty cloud. With so many people out of work there may be a glut of slightly used guns on the market very soon.

Looking hard for 590 A1 or 930 ( Mossberg) Here in SoCal a buddy that works at a gun shop told me that most want shotguns and women tend to go for the 38s since most can't rack the slide of a semi auto. They can't keep them in stock. Heck he asked me if I want to trade one for a 686-6. its quite crazy how in demand they are now.

I shoot shotguns a fair amount, in a panic situation I'd rather rely on muscle memory enforced every weekend. Being from NJ I can't carry, and if I'm in the house, why not use a shoulder fired weapon.

Shotguns and long guns in general, are better home defense weapons than any handgun. Handguns are harder to shoot and generally less powerful than rifles and shotguns. The only advantages handguns offer is that they are concealable and portable. This is not a factor in home defense. Also, handguns can be used in extremely close quarters such as dispatching a carjacker who jumps in the front seat with you. Again not really practical in home defense where you should take cover and use ambush tactics. When you play hide and seek with guns the hider always wins. That is why when you go searching room to room you put the advantage in the hands of the home invader who may be laying in wait for you. Take cover at a prearranged choke point like a narrow hallway or stair case and blast anything that enters that trap.

Don’t forget laying 1000 mousetraps each night, those light switches on the floor, and use those fancy lock buttons on your car to keep those pesky car hackers out of your front seat. Put a Whoopi cushion on all unoccupied seats, which will distract those jumping carjackers long enough for you to start blasting.

I’m sorry for that. I slide action shotgun should always be our safe.

So just as things were calming down and guns / ammo were being restocked, the protests and riots started. In NY the gun stores just reopened. Now there are lines to get in, and ammo is gone.
Crazy crazy times.

Was at a Scheels store last weekend and they had two tactical shotguns left, an AR type gun(can't remember the name but it wasn't a Typhoon)and an FN SLP with ghost ring sights for $1100. Two weeks ago they had four of the AR shotguns and quite a few more HD type shotguns. Even the regular 870s were cleaned out except for one rifled slug gun, a 20ga bird gun and a junior model 20ga. Really thinking of selling my 870 express HD that I put a smooth bore slug barrel on and using the money to upgrade to an auto. I just don't care for this 870 for some reason.
