Hello everyone. I am a newbie to the shotgun world, but have been around small caliber rifles all my life. I recently acquired a 12 ga Silver Eagle SE122 tactical shotgun, and really like the gun, except for the recoil.

i have searched all over for a recoil pad that will work, and none of the major mfgrs,
had any that would fit. Seems the butt is a special angled design, and the flat pads won't work.

I am considering using some heavy foam padding to fabricate something that will keep it from bruising my shoulder.

Any suggestions?

Just wondering..for ten bucks you can buy one of the these Allen & Co slip-on pads. You could tape/glue something onto your stock to change it to a flatter shape.

Slip this pad on over your modified stock and Viola! Recoil Reduced.

I don't know if my idea will work, but it is a low-cost try.

I can attest that the Allen&Co Recoil Recucer works very well on my Remington 12 gauge 870 pump. They are well known for giving some Kick. Please note, there are two sizes available. I used the Small for my gun.

When you say AR style shotgun, do you mean it has a standard AR15 carbine buttstock? If so, Limbsaver makes the "AR-15 Snap-on Recoil Pad"
I have one on my Mesa Tactical equipped 870 and it works great.

I recently read a good analogy that compares self defense to hunting deer. Would you use birdshot on deer? Why then, would you rely on it to protect yourself?

it does have a similar AR15 buttstock, but not identical.. It is a one piece design that is unique to the gun. Also, it has a slight 45 degree angle on the bottom of the stock, that will not work with the standard manufactured pads for ar style rifles. I've tried.

Any other suggestions? i am considering just gluing some thick foam to the buttstock...
