What do you guys think of the new Instinct SLX? The Franchi website describes it as the same performance as the SL with "deluxe aesthetics". It seems the biggest upgrade from the SL is better wood and engraving. I guess this model is still made by Bettinsoli with Turkish parts. At a MSRP of $1900, this puts the gun in the range of a Beretta Silver Pigeon 1. Seems the only thing going for this gun over the Pigeon is the lighter weight from the alloy receiver. Is that enough to make it competitive with the Pigeon? Not in my opinion.

I have the SLX 16 gauge, it weighs in at 5 lb 8 oz, great weight for a field gun. It also comes with 5 extended choke tubes, cyl, im cyl, mod, im mod and full. Fit and finish are very well done.

After 4 weeks and many reviews, only one response post concerning the SLX. Based on silverbowff's post, in additional to the SLX being lighter than the Silver Pigeon, another advantage is that the SLX can be had in 16 gauge. No 16 gauge Silver Pigeons. Last year when I was looking for a light 16 gauge O/U, I considered the SL but ended up getting a Citori Feather Superlight in 16 gauge. Just could not deviate from the B guns. I have 3 Citoris and 4 686s. The Feather Superlight was a Shot Show special run in 2019 and is no longer in production. So if you want a moderately priced light weight 16 gauge O/U with nicer wood and engraving, I guess the SLX would be a good choice.
