Hi Gents,

Inherited what I think is a 48AL; I'm a browning A5 guy and I know nothing about this gun. It was my grandfathers, who was an "inventive" man to say the least. I think he tried to swap parts between his A5 and this gun. He didn't do anything to the receiver parts, just the recoil spring/governor ring/friction spring & ring setup. Gun has no date on the receiver, and is stamped 1954 on the base of the barrel.

So here's my question...

1. Since I have NO idea if any of these parts belonged to this gun at any time, does anyone know where I can pick up a recoil spring & friction ring assembly?

2. It appears that the forearm on this gun compressed over time, so the barrel is recoiling too far forward (happened to an A5 of mine once) Can forearms be purchased for this gun anymore? I suppose I could always find some kind of nylon ring with the correct dimensions and place it between the barrel and the forearm to take up the extra space necessary.

3. This may be a REALLY stupid question, so forgive me in advance... but the dimensions of the mag tube and how the gun is put together resembles an A5 very closely... so (heaven forgive me) would it be possible to use a recoil spring and friction ring assembly from an A5 to make the Franchi work?

Biggest thing is that I'd really like to start by finding the parts and replacing them... any help would be awesome, thanks guys.

Check out Numrich's site for parts. My Franchi 48 is older than yours and has never needed parts.

I had my gun smith order a bronze piece for my 48 and while I was there a man came in and had a new forearm put on his gun ,so you can get some parts, these are 12ga guns.I live in NL so it would,nt do you any good for me to tell you my gun smiths name I suppose.
