I know its irrelavent but i was just curious of how fast this gun can reload. And if your easily capable of out running it.

Own two MP-153's in wood that I got before Remington got hold of the distribution rights. They are my hard-hunting waterfowling machines. Actually, I use them for just about everything from hot afternoon dove hunts to the dead cold of January in frozen goose fields. The only time I've been failed by one was when I neglected to clean it for most of the whole season...and that's my bad, not the gun's.

Hello Baikal lovers,

I know my request is more technical but picturesque but I need advice from Baikal owners.

I managed to find a source for the MP-153 in Germany and I must say I like the gun a lot already even without having shot one cartridge. Simply built and rugged appearance. Now there is a problem with the specification on the barrel which I like to solve before inserting the first cartridge.

The barrel specs read like this:
One side: MP-153 06 15351333 12x89
Other side: 90MPa MOB "steel shot lily" "RU-shell-testing-office-stamp" 06

Now the irritation comes from the 90Mpa together with 12x89 together with the steel shot lily.

According to CIP 12x89 lead shot comes to 137 MPa. Even assuming 90 Mpa is the working pressure the specification is misleading since 12x89 working pressure is at 105 Mpa.

My question is:
a) what do your barrel specifications look like in the US/Canada/elsewhere?
b) what larger cartridges (3.5") have been used in that gun? What pressure is the cartridge labeled with on the box? Do cartridge specs meet your barrel specs?

Can anyone solve that irritation? If 90 Mpa is the max. pressure it will burst on using 12x89 cartridges creating some 137 MPa and I don t like to find that out myself holding the gun...

Thanks!
Noatak

PS: Would be interesting to see what Remington SPR 453 specs are written on the barrel.

Here's mine Baikal..
I've put some time on some improvements..
I'm still waiting to get a tactical sling and mag-ext. to it!
The cheekpiece is totally homemade to compensate for the higher sight..

Toz

Where can you get a swivel set up like the ones in these pictures? All I've read is people are using generic versions and drilling out their mag cap.
