Not entirely true. I'm far from rich and was able to afford 5 days of driven shooting for pheasants, partridge and mallards in Wales in 2016. Yes, you can make it a "rich man's game" shooting at the big "name brand" shoots and staying in castles with 5 star food but we had good driven shooting, nice accomodations and good food that middle income people can afford.
Also, much driven shooting in the UK is done by "syndicates" which, in our terminology are "clubs". The members share the cost of leasing land, rearing and caring for the birds until shooting season, serving as beaters and being the shooters. The least cost syndicates do all of the manual labor themselves and then on a shooting day alternate drives between beating and shooting. Again, affordable by middle income people.
Would love to hear more specifics on costs and how to find these. Can pm if you prefer. Thanks!
COVID has everything messed up - I was supposed to go on a Jack Jansma trip to Bolivia in May and a John Wiles trip to Ireland in November but both are now postponed until next year or later.
