Nice! I hunted pheasant & quail out there when I was in the Navy but never got to Baja.

Browning white lightening. Skuffed and scratched (put clean side out the other side had dried blood on it), perfect for Mexico. No one bring nice guns down. Too many things can happen with Americans and guns (even though we all have proper paperwork). I keep my 20 ga feather lightening and my new .410 white lightening in the states.

I heard pheasant called "Ditch Parrots" in ND, they were called "Chinks" in Washington State. Sharptail Grouse were called "Chickens" in Manitoba & ND. They were likely called other things but that is what I remember. I second the "Welcome Aboard".

In some states they are called ditch dragons or dragon parrots.

Gentlemen,

Larry Brown wrote a couple books on Pheasant hunting, he grew up Pheasant hunting and IMO knows what he is talking about when dealing with Pheasant hunting. I highly recommend his books on Pheasant hunting.

I can still hear my dad, one of the first times I went pheasant hunting with him. I must've been 12..."Why are you shooting at Magpie's?"

...so remember kids, if the "Pheasant" is black, has an unusually broad tail and seems to be flying along at a leisurely pace...save your shells.....its a Magpie. ;)

Welcome aboard Ditch Chicken.
Nice hunting pic you posted.
Are your dogs Vizsla's?

Dean

What a great picture! Between the pandemic and the 90 degree weather, I long for the day....

DeanMk,

You bet a lot of us are looking forward to cooler weather and the opening of bird season. Too hot right now to even dog train unless you are doing retrieve training in the water.

all the best
