I thought you were going to ask for clubs that have let various reason's kill their skeet program. I had one pop to mind quickly on that.

Wright-Patterson AFB Gun Club (Dayton, OH) is currently closed until the Base Commander can find a new replacement to run it. Hopefully it will happen soon (within a few months) and they won't just decide to close it permanently.

when did ophir go under? it was poppin in apr 09? No, not really. Max died and Lee graduated college. She closed it summer of 07. She will still open it for a reservation. From what I've heard there have been no reservations.

that would explain why a visitor commented on the place in 4/09 at 'placetoshoot.com.' she probably opened it up just for one reservation only, on special request. thanks for the update.

All these were within a 50 mile radius of me. Its been more than 6 months since they've closed though. That's depressing. I grew up in High Point near Skeet Club Road, but never shot there. I currently live about 2 miles from where the Pinehurst Club used to be. Good thing they closed it to build another golf course (we are hurting for golf courses around here ) Let's hope the Rowan County Wildlife Club doesn't follow suit and close like these other fields. It's a great place to shoot.

Didn't know all that about Rowan County. We are not members, I just meet my Dad and brother there occasionally and shoot (it's in a central location for us). I think we pay about $5.50/round. Is that unreasonable? I pay about the same at Millstone. It's a shame Ophir closed. It would be fairly convenient for us but we are new to the sport and never got to shoot there.

Always sad when a club closes As a relative newcomer to the sport and skeet in general the prices in the US amaze me in this thread. Here in the UK the cheapeast round i can shoot is £5.00 ($8.12) to get that price I have to pay for 10 rounds up front. Jon.

At this time, Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club is closed indefinitely, due to the owner (a convicted felon) being convicted of selling an undercover ATF officer ammunition. (Convoluted, I know) In addition, the range stewards were convicted of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as endearing the welfare of a child when they were caught smoking in the range clubhouse. http://wikimapia.org/8752842/Greater-Pi ... h-Gun-Club

Man, this is a depressing thread. Anyone know of any new clubs, or existiing SC/Trap clubs which have added skeet recently? Mike
