Maybe for a time but Lackland had their own ranges for many years. When they closed most of the equipment went to Randolph but there are no active duty shooters here anymore (except one TSgt at Lackland).

for all you military guys that knew that little island in the middle of the indain ocean...well, AAF diego garcia closed its skeet/trap field. see below.

That's sad! That's the first place I shot skeet! $5 for a shotgun, box of shells and a beer. I would shoot till my arm nearly fell off. Great little range, lots of good memories. I was an EP-3E pilot living on Guam and we would spend an overnight on the way from the gulf to Thailand on the way to Guam.
Got up to 20/25 learning there, wasn't aware of skeet on Guam-never checked the snorkeling and diving was so good.

nas alemeda in the heart of san francisco bay was another great range. you could see the range from the bay bridge. your shots went right into the bay.

David, I was on Guam from June 91 to June 94. I was a pilot in VQ-1 and detached out to the Gulf, South Asia, PI, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, etc…
We moved into housing at Naval Hospital first - that was great because most of my neighbors were doctors not squadron mates-they did some rehabbing of housing and we had to move to NAS mid tour. Naval Hospital was great because we lived on the cliff overlooking Tumon Bay, NAS was living in a fish bowl.
My wife was the elem music teacher at St Johns, a prominent private school.
We took vacations to Japan, Palau, Australia, and New Zealand-even got home for a Christmas!
I enjoyed the diving and snorkeling-but I was a squadron instructor pilot and evaluator-so all the flying made diving hard to fit in (didn't want to get the bends of course).
We really loved our time there-took us a few days to acclimate-was stationed in Maine before going to Guam-we couldn't breath for days (110% humidity it seemed) but got used to it, the wife's boonie car AC died-never even had to fix it! You knew you would wear a golf shirt, shorts, and sandals every day too!!

It was gone when I got there, just the EP-3 variants and a couple of UP-3s.
Never shot skeet on Guam-don't think I even looked for it there-but sure had fun shooting on dodge.

NEARK gun club, walnut ridge, ark......closed.

it was announced on Thursday, that the FAA has passed on down from the pulpit, that they have to close down operations of the gun club in Walnut Ridge, due to it being on the edge of a seldom used airport. the little club has been there since 1974.

Guam had both trap and skeet. I was stationed there from 1970 to early 1972 onboard the USS Protius. There were 2 skeet and 2 trap ranges located on the southwest side of the island. I think at the time range fees were $.25 and shells were about $1.00 a box for 12 and 20's. 28's and 410's were slightly higher.
