I was in the groove today and shot 98/100, with the last two rounds being straight. I've been chasing the 50 straight for a lonnnng time. Low gun, 3/4oz, and first straight rounds with my new 725.

Congratulations! Did you throw up your hat for your squadmates to shoot?

On my next outing, I shot another straight on the first round. (2 straights for the day 96/100) does that mean I'm 75 straight now, or does not not count if there's a break in the middle?
I know it doesn't really matter to anyone but me, but thought I'd get some other opinions about it.

Awesome! Still chasing my first 25. Got closer this year 23/25 couple of times. Sitting more at 20/25 consistently.

I know it doesn't really matter to anyone but me, but thought I'd get some other opinions about it. Well, if you're doing this in practice, that's a good thing, it sounds like you have your fundamentals down. But straight this, straight that with registered targets is what matters.

If anyone near me had registered skeet shoots, I'd go. But as far as I know, there aren't any.

At my club, where we just shoot practice rounds, they will only give you the patch for scores shot on the same day. Last year I ran 75 with my 725 20 ga (I shoot only 3 rounds at each outing) and three days later I ran 25 on my first round with my 12 ga. I got the 75 patch. This past Tues I ran another 50 straight with the 20 ga. and then dropped 6L. So close!

I am about to give up on the dream to shoot 50 straight. I shoot enough 25s where it does not surprise me but 50 is tough, I shoot with 7 or 8 guys and no one has done 50.We have not had a skeet range but for 5 years. How long will it take? I am in my 70s and time is running out. Yesterday I shot 25-24-23-23.

Fish, shooting a 95 is pretty fair for any man in his 70's. Like watching a clock or a pot boil it's moment by moment agony if you sweat it. So FORGET ABOUT IT and it will happen.
Look: 50 straights are made one target at a time by every human that shoots them. Keep doing your best on EACH target and let the chips fall where they may.
Keep chugging and let the devil take the hindmost. It will come. Then on to 75 straight.
You never know. Maybe your first 50, 75 and hunnerd will all come together on one shining day. Stranger things have happened: I beat Gabby Hulgan and Tod Bender in a shoot off once upon a time. It just happened - exactly like your first 50 and more will happen.

Then, I had a couple of days where everything just fell together and boom. I went from 25, to 75 just like that. I haven't been able to duplicate it since, but I'll keep trying, and you should too. Just shoot each target one at a time, You'll get there.

Thanks for the encouragement. I tired of shooting trap but then our club received a grant for a skeet field and I am never bored shooting skeet.I don't know what it is that makes it so interesting maybe the different gauges or two shots but I always look forward to shooting.I 'm not going to quit, no way.

Don't let age worry you. I will turn 73 next month and finally scored a 100 straight (albeit over two trips to the range). I've been shooting skeet for the better part of 3 decades and I still feel like I'm improving. You're only as old as you feel.
