tp This is the real question. The XS Skeet and CX are both good guns. Differences may be rib height, adjustable comb and/or parallel comb. All of those go to fit. The XS Skeet will probably have porting, the CX may not. While I prefer barrels that are not ported, that is a very minor decision point to me.

I have a CX with adjustable comb. The rib is higher than the CXS and is designed to be a crossover where the CXS is more of a dedicated skeet gun. I'm 5'9", 200# and stocky build. The CX fits me nicely and the adjustable comb helped me get the gun shooting where I want it to.

the xs skeet will have a nickel receiver and the cx are normally blued receivers.

I don't know what the xs skeet shoots, but the CX is designed to shoot 60/40. The CXS is designed to shoot 50/50. It's all in the rib, I believe.

Yes, an adjustable comb ( I have one) and an adjustable rib ( I don't have one) are good things for shooting different disciplines.

Depends on your preference. The XS Skeet has a parallel comb. Other than that, and perhaps rib height, any differences will be cosmetic as they are both Citori shotguns. I have both and prefer the XS Skeet by a large margin. The production XS Skeet came with grade 3 wood and the CX comes with grade 1 wood. I also prefer the semi-beavertail forearm on the XS Skeet.

It was somewhat difficult to convince him to sell any of them. It's a hobby for him and he maintains a lot of new old stock. I don't remember which distributor purchased and sold them, but apparently Browning has a program that they will sell you customized guns if you order so many. The production XS Skeets were silver nitrite with grade 3 wood. This special order gun is blued with grade 1 wood.
