Have you ever taken part ? I am a guy that does not like standing around waiting, but who does. How long would a round take with 5 shooters ? I suppose you plenty to do ,loading ect., waiting your turn. Just wondering.

We shoot ML Trap at our club. Ten shot rouunds, rather than 25.
Shooters load and proceed to a lineup.
Whoever is ready first shoots their one or two shots.
Needless to say, double gun shooters get through their targets faster. No cap or priming charge until ready to fire.
Little more work for the scorekeeper, getting the scores on the correct shooters scorecard line, but keeps the game moving.
I don't see why a similar rotation couldn't be used for a few guys shooting Skeet.

Assuming everyone has a double gun, each one shoots the singles on 1,2,6&7 then reloads while the others are shooting and then shoots the doubles. On the other stations you have time to reload while the others are shooting. That works pretty well to keep things moving.

Where I have shot muzzle loading skeet, we went stations 1 through 8 shooting singles, then went back to station 1 and shot the doubles on 1, 2, 6, and 7, and then shot our option on the first station and house that we missed. We didn't have squads, just individual shooters going to their next station when they were ready. Loading was done at a separate loading table.

This was at a muzzle loading only club that had a skeet field and holds an annual shotgun shoot. Skeet, trap, and sporting clays. This year's event was cancelled due to Covid.

Those that qualified for the championship round shot on Sunday did shoot as a squad, but there was plenty of time to reload while your competitors shot, especially with the doubles being shot separately after the singles. Using that shooting format, a squad of five or more can shoot a round nearly as fast as a modern skeet squad can shoot a round. You're just reloading while waiting for your turn to shoot.

I finally figured out that lifting your head and not following through can ruin your score in a rifle match also.
