Congratulations John, that is a biggie!
Was the tournament just last weekend? December seems very late in the year for a State Championship the size of Virginia's, but with the pandemic maybe it got pushed back? Hopefully those points will put you into Open Team!

Hopefully those points will put you into Open Team! Our State shoot had traditionally been in August. Last year, we voted to move it to September, due to the extreme heat in VA in August, and our aging membership. A week before the September shoot date, a member of the host club contracted Covid, so the club pushed it back to October. It was held the weekend following the World shoot. World shoot ended on a Friday, and the following Thursday, we had the VA state shoot. The article just appeared in the current CTN magazine, which is probably what prompted this thread.

Ah, I guess I should have thought of that immediately. My mind just immediately thought it must have been last weekend!
Virginia has a couple of young ladies who are extremely good. Was Kathrine Adams in attendance? Either way, that is quite an accomplishment.

Katherine has moved to Pennsylvania upon completing her Doctoral in Pharmacy! She can embarrass the PA boys for a while!!
Mattison Russell was in attendance, and won the 410 event!

congrats john. so the state scores and points didn't go into the annual totals? I thought the world was suppose to be the last shoot where all scores and points were tallied?

Bobski, several years ago, the NSSA changed the shoot year to end with the calendar year, on Dec 31st. So all shoots through December count towards points. The FL state shoot was also held after the World this year, as well as Zone 7. Probably a few more. And even before that change, it was October 31st, so even shoots after the World still counted for points that year. Have a great Christmas and New Year!!
