This is the third year in a row and they have also raised the price of the pallets, the shipping, and the handling of the targets.

With the shortage and price increase on ammo, it is going to cost more to shoot shotgun clay games.

prices are "subject to change" in a free enterprise market........there are other MFG's of clay targets.......sometimes a few phone calls might save you thousands......or better yet, had you maybe listened to a sales rep from another company who might have approached you in the past, that might be ringing a bell now.

best part of my job is when I hear "I should have listened to you earlier"

Are there that many reliable makers of clay targets that you can pit them one against the other?

If a club or any buyer bails on White Flyer and goes to some other maker, what happens if the second company can't supply the demand? That probably will not put you in a great bargaining position with White Flyer.

No sign of this on White Flyer website today.
Just hot air at this point.

Highly likely the 20% is from the supplier and not White Flyer directly. White Flier likely implemented an annual price increase which is pretty standard business and then the supplier/distributor passed on an even larger increase.

Clays are produced primarily out of a petroleum based material called Pitch. The price of this material will follow crude oil prices which is up about 25% in the last several months so 20% is not out of the question either.

Curious if the price of the Bio targets went up too. They are made of sulfur so the oil market should not apply.

Maybe, maybe not. Sulfur is one of the by-products of the oil refining process or it can be mined so it would depend on where WF is getting their raw material.

20 percent on a 10 cent target is 2 cents.
if your club adds 20 percent on top of say 50 dollars a hundred they are maybe needing a raise on all expenses or just wanting to make more money nothing wrong with that.
I just dont hearing targets went up so here is a 10 dollar increase to cover it some of our best clubs around are on the lower end of prices but make it in volume.

Dear Valued Customers,

White Flyer announced a price increase on certain products December 22, 2020. The price increase was not 20%. On average products increased about 5%. It’s important to note that standard orange top, orange dome and a few other pitch targets did not increase at all. White Flyer freight increased .15 per mile and pallets did not increase. Please contact your distributor for a price quote on your next shipment.

Please feel free to contact your regional White Flyer Sales Manager if you have any further questions. On behalf of the White Flyer Team, we wish you and your families a healthy New Year!

Thank you,

Robert Crow

Robert,

Thanks for the color. it is much as I suspected. Since you are monitoring this thread I would like to take the chance to pose a question.

When if ever will White Flyer develop some new target types/sizes such as 90/70 mm Battue or Rabbits?

Making the targets is the easy part, getting the thrower companies to make the new magazines and arms to throw them is another. And the clubs would need a machine that most likely would only get used for registered events.

You know, I have been against creating new targets ever since this was first mentioned. Not that I wouldn't like to shoot them but from a club standpoint this will increase their expenses. Plus they would have to but new machines and keep more money tied up in target inventory. I owned and ran a club many years ago and I can tell you that many smaller clubs just can't handle more expense just because a few shooters want to add to their cost. A good target setter can do a lot of things with the targets we have. Shoot a smaller rabbit or battue. What have we gained here? Presentations are made by good setters not smaller targets. I really hate a mini. I have always called them the juvenile delinquent of targets. Sometimes just dropping them on the table will crack. I know, this happens with all targets but from my experience it happens a lot more with a mini. They are affected by the wind more than other targets and they are sure harder to see and pick up if shot as the second bird in a true pair.

The 70mm has pretty much replaced the 60mm. 70 has charistics of 90. Different colors to me have a large effect on presentations, and used correctly. There is so much can be done with a standard target with the traps we have today..

I have not seen rockets in a long time. They are a hoot and you don't need a special machine.

It was my experience running a club that clays are the smallest cost item in the price of clays, there are about 35 items that make up the cost of a clay thrown for you.

YMMV of course
