Hey all,

As I dive dive deeper into the SC rabbit hole, I'm thinking a vest might be a good purchase.

Main driving factor here is, my super comfy kick-eez pad keeps hanging up on my t-shirts.

I've had several people mention a vest might help absolve this issue, along with pushing the shotgun out further before mounting it.

What vest (if any), do you guys prefer?

Cheers

I use a Wild Hare vest. Great vest but a little pricey. If you go to Nica Shooting Supply (nicashooting.com) you can see a good selection from a variety of companies.

Wild Hare are very nice. I have a full vest for cool to cold weather and the apron style for warm weather.

I also use a Wild Hare. Very well made and the fit is excellent.

I had a NICA vest but returned it as they run small and they did not have the next size up in the model I had purchased. I wound up buying one of Wild Hare's half vests instead. I also have their insulated winter coat; well made.

Second "Shoot the Moon". I got the all mesh version and decided on custom fit. I really like it. Outstanding quality, outstanding customer service, and they made it so easy to get a real custom vest.

I've had Bob Allen, Wild Hare and Shoot the Moon (custom) but I have come to prefer Castellani vests. Again, they are not cheap but the quality is first rate.

More important, you can buy them from Tom Lotus at Ultimate Shooting Accessories. There is no finer gentleman in the game than Tom and his customer service is second to none. He also is a sponsor of this site -- click on his banner ad at the top of the page.

Thank you all so far for the recommendations.

Those Shoot the Moon vests looks awesome. Are they made here?

I try my hardest to not buy stuff made in the PRC.

On the Castellani vests, how's the sizing? I know a bunch of the Beretta stuff with EU sizing runs small.

Cheers

Shoot the Moon is in Colorado and they're great folks to work with. If you need the sizing to be tweaked a bit, they'll work with you to make sure you get what you need.

I've been very happy with my Wild Hare.

I see a lot of guys with the Wildhare Summer Vest wearing a larger size than they need. Does this make it cooler to wear on Hot days?

I wear NICA. My experience is that they run true to size. I think they are as well made as the Wild Hare vest that most of my friends use, and they are less expensive.

I shoot SC and fitasc. my Browning vest needs replacing and has a cloth shoulder pad. works fine for Fitasc but wondering if leather or similar is better? what are your preferences?

Had a Browning trapper creek vest that was very comfy. Wore it out and this past summer bought the Wild Hare. It's definitely a nicer put together vest and i'm very happy with it. One trick to helping avoid pad hangups is to be sure your right shell pocket is kept loaded up.

I like my Castellani. They do run a little small, though. I guess Italians are a little thinner than Americans.

Cabelas had a couple of vests that provided a lot for the money. I can't find them in their on-line catalog now. What happened?
