Not going to complain about the site other than I am on the lookout for a Perazzi stock and found one for sale by a private seller.
I cannot buy or contact seller because I don’t have 50 posts

Seems like this policy short changes both parties
Is there a rationale for this?
Again, their sandbox but I can’t play in it yet

I guess I am complaining By the way

I understand ban on selling by new guys but not sure I understand banning buyers.

jrmev...true that.

I can see 50 posts (sorta) for a seller, but restricting the buyers to that standard impedes (or "disenfranchises" if you're a liberal  ) the regular member seller who has been participating enough to be able to advertise.

I guess I can see their point though, trying to benefit their regular, proven participants on both ends of the deal. I too have had an interest in a couple of items there but couldn't post as I recall due to the "rule of 50".

I like the rules here better.

But there are lots of good guys over on that site I'm sure. I like browsing there just for knowledge sake occasionally, and I don't even shoot trap but one or two rounds a year... if that. Sporting Clays is my addiction.

Yeah I am an SC guy primarily but I’m building a Perazzi right now for my Grandson and there is a stock that is exactly what I am looking for. And at a bearable price
Totally understand 50 posts for the seller but as a buyer what difference would it make as long the financial transaction is viable.
Just Odd

Read the rules. It explains the rationale for the policy. Private forum, follow the rules to play there.

Ever since that site changed ownership, its driven by generating profits.

They charge $900 or so for vendor, and those paying vendors put a lot of pressure on the mod to get what they're paying for.

We saw many changes in the past couple year.
Member's FS section got moved out of general viewing section, you have to find it to see it.
Members are limited to one item at the time.
Members need 50 creditable posts to get privileges on FS section.
Members need to sell their item on TS with buyer posting "I'll take it". Otherwise you'll get banned.
If you dare to complain or make comment on it, you'll get banned.

Vendors post 20, 30 FS ad on it, sometimes it covers most of the pages.
I simply block most of those vendors to save time going through those over priced retail ads.

The members FS section gets less attractive with fewer interesting items over times, I rarely go see them.

However, most of their members (smart ones) are also on this site, you'll find many are posted here too.

BTW, what Perazzi stock were you looking for? If you post a WTB thread here, you might find one too.

Well I was curious to know what their rationale was about the 50 posts to buy. So I did as you suggested. I clicked the link read through the rules, I did not find an answer to that question. I know I am a bit dense, and I very well could have just read right over it. But I could not find an answer to it in there.

The op did say he understood it's their board and they make the rules. He just wondered why they choose to operate it that way. I wonder the same thing?

According to that site's mod, it was to prevent scam.
They figure if someone can made 50 "creditable" posts, they're likely safer.

IMO, that's about the same as if you want to post FS on this site, you have to prove you have said item in your procession.
It means well although the discussion forum will not be responsible for scammers unless its proven associated with such.

I understand your questioning why buyers need to have 50 posts.

I'm guessing the software can't filter out buyers from sellers so
everyone needs to have 50 creditable posts prior to using the classifieds.

It's really a stupid rule because a serious scammer can make 50 posts over 2-3 weeks and then run the scam. They don't even have to know anything because they can open a thread, go to the bottom, find a similar thread and copy and paste erudite sounding comments from the old thread.

Better policy. Upload a copy of your NRA membership card or mailing label from an NRA magazine, or a copy of your local gun club membership card for a review by a moderator. Just because some anonymous person has 50 posts tells the buyer or seller nothing. If they know the person has been required to prove who they are to the Mods, that's better comfort. The time the Mods spend chasing down people and banning them is far more than reviewing an uploaded file and clicking a flag switch. You now open the market to more buyers and more opportunities.

This way they would have a professional level policy instead of looking like a bunch of 8th grade mean girls.

I agree.
But that will not satisfy the paying vendors.

Vendors need to justify their advantages over free ad.

TS. com doesn't make money off the Vendor ads They are like $60 a month and there is what around 30 of them? It makes money off the general ad impressions.

The 50 post rule is not exclusive to just TS, but believe it or not, it takes awhile to get up to 50 posts at TS because they're so paranoid about scammers that ALL new members are guilty until proven innocent. Heck, I been lurking at that site for about a decade until I finally became a registered member a year or so ago and was immediately greeted with a 3-day ban after I only made like 3 or 4 posts.

Just too weird for me.......
I now have achieved permanent privilege loss (buy/sell etc) simply because I have not been active enough?! Talk about killing the cow that gives the milk!
Just plain BS, an individual in power run amuck.

There are as many scammers posing as buyers as there are scammers posing as sellers.

Well, if you are dumb enough to send an expensive item to someone you don't know before they send you the money, you are really too dumb to worry about it.
