My 2 local Clubs here in East TX are both public and never shut down or turned anyone away to my knowledge.

Ours has shut down a couple of times due to exposures/contacts at the club, but it doesn't have different rules for members or guests. It's all or nothing, as far as I recall.

Currently, our skeet range is closed due to a recent contact. I believe 5-stand/sporting clays are still open. FWIW, the two ranges are on separate areas of the grounds and are run by different volunteers. Skeet/trap has an actual indoor clubhouse. The 5-stand/SC range just has a shed with a window onto a covered patio. People don't gather indoors at that range.

I believe, so far, decisions to open/close and impose limitations are being made on the range committee level and not the overall club board of directors level.

We were forced to shut down for a while last spring by the city who threatened to pull the license. But, no, all guests are welcome.

None of the clubs in Florida or Georgia shut down or required any PPE; they were deemed "essential businesses" by each governor. Guests are welcome and encouraged.

We did not shut down. Shot all events, registered and non-registered. Our high school teams didn't compete this year, but our collage had practice 2 days a week and telephonic tournaments at their home clubs. We entertain other local colleges how need a skeet field and 5-stand for practice. Know of no case of Covid on the grounds.

We put a no guests rule in place when the limit on gathering size was 10 people, due to Covid.
Rationale - No member should be kept from shooting by exceeding numbers due to guests.

We stayed open. Wear a mask if you want, don't have to. No distancing. Two of our members got the Chinese sickness, but no one else. The one is single, the other a 72 year old married man. He's doing fine and his wife hasn't caught it. He sits next to me in the shotgun room three times a week and I never got it, and I'm 74.

If they did they'd ban me...but I run the place so there's that.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

There are a few who are not welcoming non-members , they even stated they are not having
any winter league shoots this year ! But , with a Governor who wants us to wear a mask while
Waterfowl hunting , it's understandable the Liberals will follow.....?

Casonet, what kind of license did the city threaten to pull ? Are you guys shooting in city limits ? Guess I don't understand living in the country. Our club has a liquor license but that's about all. The gun club doesn't have a license to operate.

Yes, the club is in the City limits and must have a license as a shooting range. We also have a restaurant that must have a license. All city businesses had to comply with the COVID protocol.

This is all BS. The masks do no good. Maybe social distancing could help.

Then why do surgeons and nurses wear them while performing surgery? Are they just wasting their time by wearing them? This has been the practice for more than100 years

And they are in a sterile environment when doing so

Tom,
Surgical masks are a spit shield, nothing more. They're worn so surgeons and nurses can converse without worrying about putting spit droplets in the incised area. Most of COVID is transmitted as aerosols i.e. breath vapor. I'd suggest you could not breathe through a mask that could stop a virus. See, a common surgical mask cannot filter out particles as large as 40 microns. The COVID virus is .1 micron. You once likened the effectiveness of masks as akin to trying to corral mosquitos with chain link.

That’s the way it used to be. Both my daughter and son in law are anesthesiologists at KU and the stuff that they are now using are far far more effective
