Friends - just wanted to make you aware of two nice 51's on this month's Gunrunner auction.

First is a 20 ga, Supreme skeet with fabulous wood, jeweled bolt and carrier, Sid Bell grip cap. Auction #79.

Next is a 12 ga. Supreme, 26" SKT barrel, fancy wood with trap comb! Auction #97.

Both are new unfired. The consigner had a machine shop business that made some parts for Ithaca in the 70's. These guns were given as partial payment. They have been in the closet ever since.

Those are beauties. I have never seen a Model 51 Deluxe Grade--Trap or Skeet--that didn't have spectacular wood. The Skeet Deluxe in 20, especially, is a rare find.

Hello Al. I have been watching both. The 12 gauge is a legitimate Supreme Skeet as cataloged by Ithaca. The 20 has a gold plated trigger and jeweled bolt and carrier and the Sid Bell cap as you noted. I was curious about the upgrades. Thank you for the added information. Are there boxes with either one?
That 20 is a very scarce gun. And the upgrades make it even more interesting.

Lovely guns. I wish I was younger and I would probably be a serious player because I have never even held a model 51 and I am curious about them.

Nice. Bringing some good money already.

Interesting options. The 20 looks to be a 51A

I thought the 12 was a trap at first glance due to the Monte Carlo style stock. Maybe it had a trap barrel too at one time. The barrel is not the older skeet style. The early skeets had special rib lugs.

I've owned two skeets in 12 ga. Awesome guns.

That 20 is one you don't see too often.

If someone on here wins them make sure you replace the springs and buffers!! Les has them in stock.

Hi guys - thanks for your interest! There are no boxes with these. There may be more to come in upcoming months - I will keep you informed. You guys are lucky that I shoot pump guns, not autoloaders, or you would have never seen the 20ga!

I admire your fortitude. My M51 Supremes have the most beautiful wood of all my shotguns. Just looking at the 20 gauge, it appears to be flawless and AAA or better. I wonder what it will fetch? I think $1000 is not unreasonable.

Well, I won the 20ga. Would of liked to bid on both but as they say you can't have them all!

Congrats! Beautiful gun... the mid-80's wood on the Supreme grade 51's is as good as any that Ithaca ever put on a shotgun.

Congrats on the 20 ga - beautiful gun! It landed about where I thought it would. I was surprised at the 12 ga - that was a steal! Perhaps the odd combination of skeet barrel and trap stock? Watch upcoming auctions - there's more ...

That and the fact that there were a decent number of Supreme grade 12 gauge guns built. Also, because the barrels are interchangeable and not numbered to the gun, it is possible to put together a 12 gauge Supreme skeet or trap from parts.
The loss of all M51 records is problematic too. There is just no way to know how many were made.
I can tell you that since I became aware of the 20 gauge Supreme skeet about 7 years ago, I have only ever seen two for sale. I bought 1 and this auction was for the other one.
I will be watching your auctions for more Ithaca shotguns.
