Like the title says I’m in the market for a benelli semi auto 28 ha and I cannot make my mind up between the ultra light and the ethos. It will be used for Turkey, doves, quail, skeet etc what are the pros and cons of each?

I haven't had the ethos in 28ga. But I have had an ethos in 12ga. I've had 5 ultralights. Including the 28ga. I currently own just the 12/26 in the ultralight line.

Having laid all of that out, I kind of miss the little 28ga ultralight. Pertaining to each model, I prefer the Montefeltro type to the ethos. But that's entirely personal preference.

Not that a Benelli needs cleaned all that often, but the two piece receiver on the ethos makes that easier. Maybe my ethos was an exception, but it had the worst trigger of all of the 15 Benellis I've had. It also was the least reliable with light loads. It's not the guns fault. Benelli will not guarantee reliability with light loads, and they are up front about it. But all of my Benellis have been 100% reliable with light loads. The ethos being the exception.

It's a tough call, and only you can decide. I'm not sure which one I'd go for. If you get the ethos, report back on your findings.

I'd buy used. Most people can't figure out how to shoot light guns, or they "don't understand why 12ga shells are bigger but 28ga cost more". Jeff from Indiana"has a buddy that swears by 28ga"! Except Jeff's buddy shoots on two separate leagues twice a week, is a competent reloader, hunts birds with his brittanies all across the country, built his own kennel, built his own truck box...

Jeff has a fat lab that only runs when the ol Roy bag rustles, shoots trap twice a year to "tune up" before season. Jeff hunts on opener and Thanksgiving with his SBE3 that he claims "shoots right where I "aim" it!"

I got my near new 28UL for $1k from "Jeff".

Find "Jeff from Indiana".

Sorry if there are any actual Jeff from Indiana guys on here. I'm sure the actual Jeffs are stand up guys.
