The feed latch is well staked and depresses by hand, but when the gun is assembled, the shells in the magazine hang up on it when cycled. Magazine spring has plenty of power.
I really don't know how the trigger mechanism works, but something is not depressing that latch (action bar?/ something that actuates the action bar?).
I'm at a loss and now the gun is just a single shot.
Thanks for any suggestions/advice.

ETA This is a trap gun and I haven't shot doubles in years so I don't know when the problem arose. It did function properly at one time.

the typical problem with 1100's not cycling is the piston is installed upside down

if you haven't used it in years,it may be worth a check

simplest, things first

good luck

Thanks but no, it's not the piston ring.
The shells hang up on the feed latch lip and will not feed from the magazine tube or can I get them out by cycling the gun.
They only come out if I manually hold the feed latch down so they can pass the lip.

The action bar actuates the latch. If the bolt is moving, manually or by firing, it should move the latch. With the trigger group out of the gun, watch from the underside to see what's happening. If the feed latch or the action bar is bent or chipped it can cause this. The latch may be bent too far for the action bar to move it far enough. Also, be SURE the interceptor latch is't what's holding back the shells. The trigger group has nothing to do with the feed latch, but it does control the interceptor latch.

Thanks for explaining how that works--I will check it out tomorrow.
It is only the feed latch that is holding the shells back. When the trigger group is out it you can see it.

Finally got back to the gun.

I now see how the action bar depresses the feed latch as it moves back.
With the trigger group and bolt out and a shell inserted into the magazine, when I grasp the bar and yank it back against the link and action spring, a shell will fly out of the magazine without issue.
The latch not depressing when fully assembled and cycled by hand to unload just doesn’t make sense. (at least to me).
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sounds like your interceptor latch is not working properly to me. With the trigger group out make sure the spring is good and you can move it with your finger.
