Looking for a 12 gauge side by side under 6.5 lbs and with ejectors. I have been looking all over and can’t seem to find any to match what I am looking for. Budget needs to stay under 3k. Thanks

My only first hand experience in SxS is a Stevens 311, but a guy I shoot with had a Beretta SxS he said picked up for about $2K. I think he said it's a Silverhawk. Seems like a nice gun.

If you want a new gun you can look at Italian makers or, perhaps, Turkish. FAIR makes a good, light double as does Dickinson. I’ve handled and shot both and was impressed.

Or, if used is acceptable, really good condition English and European boxlocks are available in your price range. At the moment there are a lot of good doubles available. I suggest looking at Vintage Doubles website or Hill Rod and Gun. There are more on the web. Guns International is another source.

12 ga SXS's under 6.5 pounds would be termed a light game gun that would be most suitable for upland hunting with light loads of 1 oz shot at around 1200 fps. A gun built that lightly would not be suitable for dedicated clay targets or shooting heavy loads such as Fiocchi Golden Pheasant loads. The English gun makers built many of those light guns and even lighter for years that may be available on the used market. Caution should be exercised when purchasing used British SXS's that you're not getting a gun that failed the country's strict proof laws and is being dumped on our market.

Browning BSS. Most are used but they are built like bank vaults and will continue to last at least your lifetime.
I just bought one with single selective trigger, thinwall choke tubes and 28" barrels. Beautiful gun and very cool to handle.

A gun rejected at proof would have it's proof marks defaced. It is unlikely to encounter such a gun since it cannot be sold in the UK, unless permanently deactivated.
A gun "out of proof" is much harder to detect. Excessive barrel lapping to remove pits, leaving unsafe thin barrels, needs wall thickness testing to detect.

Thanks for all the response. This gun will be only used for upland hunting. I shoot non toxic rounds ranging from 1200 fps to 1500 fps. I currently shoot a 20g Sharptail but want a 12g as well but under 6.5 lbs

Look at the FAIR Iside - in 12 gauge it shows 6.4 lbs.
A very modest priced Italian SxS.
I have a FAIR Jubilee 16 gauge O/U which is great value for dollar, and light.

I am shooting pair of Cashmores this year. One weighs 6lbs, 1.9 oz. It has ejectors (which I'm beginning to hate).

I have a Merkel model 8 that is right at 6.5 lbs and I recently sold a Darne that was 6 lbs even. A friend has a French Boucher that is a smidge under 6 lb, 2 oz.

All of these except the last were $1k or under. There are plenty of such guns to be had, but you have to shop, and they almost certainly will not be American.
