I tested the 4 brands/types of buckshot my local stores keep on the shelf, although I don't like SG and they had Winchester #4 buck but it's that dear I'm not shooting it, it's all got dearer but at least I will be able to pick up a slab and get it a bit cheaper. Anyway that's enough waffling on pictures tell a better story anyway. The gun, chokes imp/cyl, mod, imp/mod and full. Attachment: 15588458187395.jpg The selection of shell's. Thanks for showing that as I have never done much testing with buckshot.

That's the problem with shotguns, people don't think they need to zero them like a rifle but you do. I'm going to take the best patterning load and choke combos and shoot 3 more patterns to get a real indication of performance but you can expect it to be pretty damn close. It's also worth testing ones that have a few flyers in case it was just a bad round. I also plan on patterning out at 50 yards to check extreem range. I'm going to pick two loads, one that shoots the best out of the imp/cyl as that one shoots slugs the best, even over a pure cylinder choke, and one that shoots the best long range pattern for regular use.

AGREED.... I use an older Rem 1100 12ga 28in barrel 2.75in shells only with a fixed modified choke for my woods hunting. It's a hammer out to 45yds with Federal Premium 00, Rem 000 and 00. When doing my pattern work with this gun, I noticed that with a cold barrel it will throw out a vertical pattern with 00 buck and then the second shot tightens up the pattern. 000 buck doesn't do that with this gun. Odd..
