Sounds like a good price, from what I understand the 685 was discontinued in 85 or 86.
But it's still in the 68x series just an early model so if you like it get it.

Saw one for sale a couple of years ago and researched it a little on the internet at that time. Good price on a good gun. It is probably fixed chokes? Field configuration? Good buy if that fits your use or wants.

685's were made as a low-cost version of the 680 series. The barrels are not interchangeable with any of the other 680 series guns. I don't know about other parts - I don't think there is a lot of parts commonality with the 680, 682, 686, or 687 guns. From what I've read though, they are a decent gun.

I have one in 20ga. They are a plainer version of things Beretta. Fixed chokes and extractors. Usually rather plain wood. Mine is 26in IC/M and I have used it for dove, quail, and ducks to good avail. Mine weighs 5lb. 12oz. and kicks like the dickens with 3in loads but I use very little of those. Overall a fine field gun that shoots well, carries light, and didn't cost the price of a second car. If you like it, get it, I think the price is fair. Mine is serving me well. Rooster
