Sunnydell Shooting Grounds in Sequim WA, owned and operated by Chuck Dryke, has been assisting, training and entertaining shooters for nearly 60 years.Kirk, a fellow shooter and an exceptional dog trainer, has compiled an impressive list of contributions to the sport by the Dryke family. I will be happy to send this to anyone interested. It is impressive.
The problem: As a result of operating a shooting range through the decades, as might be suspected, there is "lead contamination" on the property. The Department of Ecology (DOE), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are NOW requiring Sunnydell to complete VERY EXPENSIVE lead "testing" and "reclamation". However, even though Chuck Dryke has a "lead reclaimer" lined up and ready to get started "mining the lead", he has been PREVENTED from doing so!!! So, here he is ready to "clean up the lead problem", and he CAN'T! Why is that?
Because of all the testing, EXPENSIVE FILING(?!?), surveyors, consultants, etc., the limited funds available to Sunnydell are running quite low. So, the Sunnydell piggy bank is quickly being drained, and can last only a SHORT while longer against such a powerful and formidable adversary, and we have no alternative but to look to our friends throughout the Nation's shooting community. Any financial aid you can supply will help with the required testing and clean up (when finally allowed!), and will help keep Sunnydell's dream alive of helping others along their shooting journey. All donations will be recognized on the "Wall of Fame", and you will be part of Sunnydell History. Various levels of recognition are available.
