"them there overseas junk guns just ain't like mine" :!: :!: :!:
I hear that! Was once at the range with one of my CZs with the full stock. Fella asked me what it was. "CZ" says I with a big smile :D on my face. Fella says...."Oh....One of them commie guns."

But at least my Henry is 100% "MADE IN THE USA"!

The Tikkas are absolutely, hands down the best accuracy factory rifle going. I personally don't own one, I enjoy building my own too much, but both my grand nephews shoot Tikkas in 243 Win and they drill little bug holes at 100 yards with the handloads their granddad developed for them. I've steered a lot of customers to Tikkas who had never heard of them and have not had a disappointed customer yet. The nice thing is, other than doing a quick tweak on the trigger, they are set up right from the factory where you don't have to pillar bed or float the barrel or any of the traditional Remchester accuracy tricks. The guy who just wants to buy a rifle, mount a scope and go hunting couldn't do any better than a Tikka at 5 times the money.

WOW!!! That's one heck of a recommendation!

Talk yourself OUT of one??? Now there is a fella that likes tilting at windmills!

No offense whatsoever intended by the "tupperware" comment. I was honestly of the impression that Tikka didn't make a walnut stock rifle! Shows you how much I know!

Real nice rifle!!!! Wouldn't happen to have a pic or two from some of your deer hunts?
None taken.......nothing wrong with that comment either. Personally, I prefer wood/blue but there had been occasions when I wished for a plastic/stainless or laminate/stainless.

As already mentioned by others, Tikkas are excellent rifles that perform appropriately right out of the box and those (like the current Savages) are not finicky with different factory loads. Just don't much care for some of the plastic components used.

Having said that, my favourite rifles are/were the Sako and CZ at this time. In my past, I played mostly with European bolts and Brit bolt and double rifles. The Mod 70 (pre 64)Winchesters were the only bolts my folks cared about that was made in NA :)

I'm old school and quality build rifles with quality irons sights are very important to me.

Well.....

As many here know, our very own Huglu Forum "regular", Riflemeister, after retiring from being a naval aviator took up building custom rifles! Yup!!! He's one of those guys that builds the rifles that folks use to shoot the legs off a mosquito at 1000 yards.

It took some doing......he's not one to toot his own horn....but here is a pic of one of the competition rifles he has built and the Gal that has used it to win multiple championships, along with his description........

I'm enclosing another self aggrandizing picture for the rifle thread: "Cathy Winstead-Severin (AKA: The Human Benchrest) holding her rifle built by Riflemeister and flanked by the plaques for the 2010 NRA Smallbore Sillhouette national championships in both Hunter class and Standard Rifle shot with her Hunter Class gun. This is the second year in a row she accomplished this sweep of both classes with this gun. The gun is a Kelby Swindlehurst action with a Lilja tight bore 16 twist barrel chambered with the ELY EPS Match reamer and pillar bedded into a McMillan 1702 Anschutz synthetic stock. The rifle shoots very well and the lady shoots even better."

There is really no end to the talent we have on this forum!

WOW :!: and triple WOW :!: When you got it you should share it. Statement of accomplishments are not aggrandizements in my book. If we don't know what people have done, we have no way of knowing their background. I now know we have an expert in Riflemeister who can handle such questions without me making a fool out of myself when talking about the subject

Thanks for the information on meister---I can appreciate his restraint in tooting his own horn (don't like that big word) :!:

Do they make the same rifle in left handed models? Or is the Sako made LH Tikka different?

I've been watching Savage develop their triggers and stocks over the last few years, the left handed models always seem to be a year or two behind their RH models as far as latest new stuff. I believe that this year was the 1st year for their AccuStock in LH models. They do seem to support LH'ed shooters more than most companies and that's worth more than the lip service from most of the others. I wouldn't not buy a Tikka rifle because it's imported since I've also looked at the LH A-Bolt Brownings. Buying any firearm when I was in CA was a royal pain in the butt since there weren't many gunshops that carried LH'ed guns (or all that many gunshops in general) and so many out of the state won't ship into CA. Now that I'm no longer in CA I don't have that problem.

Y'know Riflemeister....

Keep this up and you'll have me ready to cheat on my CZs!
