Is the only difference between the mirco and the standard bt is the stock?

Have a friend looking at a micro for his small stature boy, and was just double checking as to any other differences.

Also, if the kid grows I assume you can swap out to a larger stock?

30" barrel or (if I remember) 32". The only micro's Ive looked at were the 30" barrel. Stock config for a small person. The micro plus had adjustable stock and rib. Very rare, only saw one being used in Iowa over the years. Not likely to find a 34" barrel to exchange, hard to find a standard sized stock.

Here's a few pages of stocks if you need one:

The BT-99 Micro is offered in 30" and 32" barrels. The LOP is 13 3/4" and the gun weighs a little under 8lbs. As far as I know, it's built on the same frame as a regular BT-99. So, any regular stock will fit if the kid out grows the micro one.

For those that have a BT-99 Micro and want a longer LOP for an all-growed-up-n.... consider installing a Gracoil or 4 way adjustable plate on the gun to get to the desired LOP.

 thanks for the info guys. I tried searching the net and didn't find any concrete answers.

The kid is built like a miniature fireplug- typical trapshooter's body

He has been shooting my 525 20 ga., and that fits him well enough, but he wants his own gun.

The dad is willing to spend a reasonable amount on a gun, and I think the bt micro will fit him.

If he doesn't get much bigger than his dad, he might be able to keep shooting it- otherwise nice to know he does have some options to go into a standard sized bt

I think a better gun would be an XT with the stock cut down and a Graco adjustable butt pad put on. This way the gun will have 1 1/8" of travel so it can grow with him and he'll be able to use it for Doubles or any other clay game.

Understood. My son can't hold up my XT either. I'm just considering the fact that the kid will grow quickly. The more he likes the game, the easier it will be for him to hold the gun. The XT is a better gun for the long haul, but the BT-99 Micro is great for now.

I wish him well in his search.

I wouldn't offer the Dog more than a few dollars for that gun. It's a crappy old BT-99 that has to be shot out by now. I'm sure it won't work for your boy.

OK, I can't do that to you Dog. It really is a nice gun. It's a 1977 edition of the BT-99. I had it reblued and the receiver Nickle plated. Here's a pic of it when I had it:

Of course the stock is a little shorter now, but I'm sure the Dog hasn't hacked it up too bad.

how do you guys like those finger grove f.a's over the traditional smaller f.a's? that big one makes the gun look like a citori with one bbl!

I much prefer the profile of the beaver tail with finger grooves. I wouldn't buy a BT-99 without that forearm.
