By this reasoning a .22 short would make a great deer rifle caliber as well!slomo said:A .22 short will kill a hog at close range. Never figured out why most people drive their rented Iowa class US Navy battleships out to go hog hunting.

A 22 short will work if you prefer to wound or piss off the pig. We do want to dispatch them as humanely as possible. If it means a bigger caliber, so be it.slomo said:A .22 short will kill a hog at close range. A .22 short will take any animal in North America. Don't you guys aim for the head??? You guys must of thought I was aiming for the shoulder area, LOL. At the other end of the .22 scale, even the .223 will smoke a hog with a head shot. It drops them like they were hit by a bolt of lightning.thomasartbutler said:A 22 short will work if you prefer to wound or piss off the pig. We do want to dispatch them as humanely as possible.
