Xtra-Wood is a film coating that is put on the stock. It is a picture of wood. Xtra-Grain is a process done to the wood stock that enhances the grain of the wood that is already there. You can sand and refinish XTra-Grain, you have to have Xtra-Wood reapplied if damaged. Mark

Xtra Wood is like a camo finish over the top of the wood. Xtra Grain is fake figure added to plain walnut.

I'd rather have plain walnut, myself.

I'd get that 20 Gauge 391 Sporting. An absolutely wonderful gun in the hands.

If you don't like the wood, have a custom stock made for it later. It's a gun that's worth the money.

What was wrong with the Legacy?
Absolutely nothing, if you like whippy, 4.9 lb. guns that are hard to hit anything with. I suppose the 28 gauge Legacy has its place, but my friend was looking for a 28 gauge autoloader suitable for mostly 5 stand and skeet, and that ain't it. He's also got a Remington 1100 Sporting 28 which has fallen from favor, so I suggested he consider the 20 gauge AL391 Sporting. Oughta be his cup of tea.

Depends on what you're shooting at. Clay targets definitely aren't what they'd be good for. :)

But I'd just as soon get the 20 Gauge version if I ever do get a Benelli. Just curious. Thanks.

I have to say, the Legacy 28 balances a hell of a lot better than the Ultralight. However, a 20 Gauge Monte is light enough.

Also, the new A400 in 20 Gauge is supposed to be 5 lbs. even.
