In the first place, every one of us was taught in school what communists were, and there aren't any communists in the United States government. There were a few back many, many years ago, but not during my lifetime.

We have had regulated free markets with a social safety net all of my life. Public roads, bridges, schools, Social Security, Medicare, Veteran's programs, and the post office are not communist ideas. The federal government does not own the means of production of hardly anything except postage stamps, coins, dollar bills, and nuclear bombs. Less than 2% of the workers work for the federal government. That's not even socialism, much less communism.

But I think everybody knows that. It's just easy to call somebody a communist that reminds you that when you were a kid you loved your country, didn't blame your troubles on the government or some poor devil on welfare, and held your head up and weren't so selfish, so gullible, so quick to blame others for everything, and were a lot more civil and polite about other views than your own.

I sure was. I never thought in a million years the Repubican party that I used to love so much would wind up being the worst threat to this nation we've seen since at least the Civil War.

The Republican party used to be mainstream. They would have never even thought about defaulting on the debt or saying that a Democrat had a forged birth certificate, or make up lies to get people to vote for them.

It's shame. But the real shame is that the Republican party has lost it's sense of shame and there are still millions of raging, fearful, pessimistic people out there that have become right wingers they never dreamed they would be when they were young. That's the real shame, what harm they have done to so many good people.

It's you and who you support that are the real threat to this nation!

No communists in the US govt????????

Bull****!

Starting from the WH down to over 70 in the congress, makes you a liar again.

And a not very popular one at that!
If you had any sense, you would be too ashamed to post your pure BS.

Of course there aren't any communists. There weren't but a handful sixty years ago the last time the Republicans made such a disgrace of themselves with witch hunts and McCarthyism. But there actually and honestly were a few communists spies in the government back then.

But these Republicans today have gotten so right wing crazy making up things that flat out do not exist that if all it would be difficult to know where they would even begin to reform themselves and straighten up and become a mainstream, viable political party where somebody's mother might not hang their head in shame their son was running with such radicals.

The first thing to remember about a modern day Republican is that he is always negative. There will never be one positive thing to come out of his mouth or enter his brain. If the news about the economy is good, he'll deny it. If the price of gasoline goes down he'll say it used to be cheaper and it going to go back up again. When the price of gas goes up he blames Obama and says it going to go higher even still. There is not one thing that is good about his nation, his President, his government, and when you try to cheer him up he calls you names.

It's like they are on a crying, mad, hateful drunk. Ever be around somebody that was a mad, crying, feel sorry for themselves and want to fight you drunk? It's the same thing.

I cannot for the life of me see what the attraction is to being a right winger. Maybe it's fun to hate your government and call people commies and be afraid we are all going broke and all that stuff, but what about the good people that have worked all their lives trying to advance the Republican party and it's goal of enlightened conservatism, only to see all that work dashed away by this extreme right wing paranoia of hatefulness and despair.

But those Republicans chose to cater to Tea Party, and they should have known better.

There's no good to the right wing. They only like bad things, bad ideas, and they are always afraid, always mouthy, always hateful, always in despair and saying things are bad and getting worse.

Why would good people be suckered in by all that, I'll never know.

But the Republican party is probably just beyond saving. Once something gets that low down and negative, why would you even want to save it?

Just like a man on a bad drunk, the Republican party needs to go on down in the gutter and hit rock bottom, and then maybe then they might be more reasonable if they once sober up. But now they are a mess, and cannot be trusted or reasoned with anymore than you could a mean, crying, drunk.

Maybe when they woke up you could tell them that when they were on a bender they couldn't even believe a birth certificate and were calling everybody a communist. Surely they'd be ashamed of themselves, when they were sober.

But that's as much a fantasy as watching a Fox News story and thinking it was really news. The Republicans like the right wing sauce, and they don't seem like they want to quit it. They just want to fool people by pretending to be rational during an election year, and then they'll go right back on a tear. They still like Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh, Todd Akin, Sarah Pallin, Joe Arapio, Ted Cruz, and all the other right wing clowns, and are only sorry that the public seems to be figuring out that no matter what, you can't make a right winger happy and you'd never want one in charge of nuclear weapons and the national treasury.

Sane and sober people don't put up with mean, crying, loud and foul mouthed drunks forever. Neither will they these Republicans in the government, who are ten times the threat those few communists were sixty years ago.

For all the many faults of the Democrats, they are the only sober adults left standing in government. At least the Democrats didn't lose their minds at the same time the Republicans did, or it's hard to imagine who would have ran the country.

The American communist party is supporting the present administration,
that is enough for anyone with any sense. And it has been in that position for more than the past 20 years.

It doesn't take much brain power to figure out where we are going from there.

Too bad that statement about sense excludes the present fruit cake blogger.

About that, I said exactly that at the time.
There was no question that it was going to come back to haunt us again.

I just couldn't fathom it being let go as far as it has been today.

Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy was a right wing fraud and died a drunkard's death, disgraced and censured by his own party, and he has no defenders because he was a paranoid, right wing, nut job that was jettisoned by the Republicans who didn't want to associate themselves with him.

The Tea Party is destroying the viability of the Republican party. There won't be a public school teacher in a generation that won't be a devout anti Republican. It is astounding that a major political party in the United States in modern times could find itself so deeply in the sway of extremist right wing ideology, but that's what's happened. Not a one of them were raised up to be such extremists, but the combination of a bad recession and constant negative right wing propaganda has just besotted millions of once proud, optimistic, loyal Americans with the virus of a particularly virulent strain of right wing ideology that nobody seems to have any cure for.

There's not one area, not one issue where the Republican party can shake off these right wingers. They even are now saying that Common Core, which is state ran effort to place conservative, tough, standards on the public schools is a commie plot. It's as though a bunch of the slowest kids in the fourth grade have taken over the Republican party. They cannot learn, they are immune to facts, and the more facts they get the more they believe the lie.

The Republicans are no longer the loyal opposition in foreign affairs, either. Right now there is a crisis in the Ukraine. The GOP is going to be disloyal to the President, as they always are. Our nation is hobbled by these anti American rebels in our own Congress when dealing with Russia,,,,or any other nation. The Republican response is always naive, ignorant, and invariably ill informed and anti Obama. Our adversaries can always count on the Republicans to never be on the side of the United States, if that means agreeing with Obama.

Ronald Reagan thankfully did not live to see these people take over the Republican party. Generations of work to overcome the stigma of right wing extremism of the McCarthy era is all gone away in just a few years. Reagan said that government wasn't the solution to our problems, government was the problem. Today he'd say that Republicans are the problem with our government, and he'd be correct both times. Ronald Reagan wasn't against the government, he was only against excessive government. These folks are merely anti government, anti education, and anti responsibility and reason, and they would cast Reagan out as a RINO in a heartbeat.

It's what happens when you allow radicals to take over your agenda. The Republicans should have known better. When you see somebody who doubts a birth certificate is true it's a fair bet they won't stop just at denying the President's American birth.

How this ends, we don't know. But if history is any guide the GOP gets to the point where the survivors deny they ever had anything to do with the Tea Party.

But what do you do about the millions of people that still think that America going broke and their own government is always evil, always oppressive, and that doom and gloom is our only future?

If the GOP hadn't taken that first long drink of the right wing kool aid, they'd have not got hooked on it. But it's a little late now for them to put the cork back on the bottle.

You got nothing man!

Tell us what you think about the American communist party supporting the present administration, or get the hell off my thread.

Nobody wants to hear your other total bull ****. It's not relevent to the thread.

And can you even imagine Barack Obama threatening to not pay the bills, or not negotiating with Iran, or investigating Benghazi again and again and again and again, and all the other things that Republicans do that if they were playing the bad guys on the screen you'd be throwing stuff at the screen.
Just an example of your hypocrisy. When Barry was a Senator, he only did one thing besides campaign for the presidency. That one thing was opposing the raising of the debt limit and calling it unpatriotic to do so.

Negotiating with Iran has turned out great for us as well. They will have nukes and Israel is no longer the close ally they were.

Benghazi was worse than anything Nixon did. We know how that turned out.

Yes the founders did break from England to found a weak govt. as evidenced by the Articles of Confederation. Duh!!! Just because they later decided it was too decentralized does not mean they'd changed their minds in favor of full on statism.

And a bone headed political stunt that was, too. A President cannot indulge in the luxury of doing stunts like that. Besides, there wasn't any doubt that the debt ceiling would pass.

Negotiating with Iran has turned out great for us as well. They will have nukes and Israel is no longer the close ally they were.

I supported this country when Bush declared war against Iraq, and so did most other Democrats. But I've had a bellyfull of war in the Middle East, and while Iran doesn't have nukes yet, our sanctions haven't worked to stop them. If we can't negotiate away their nuclear weapons program I suppose we'll have to send some more of our boys over there, we'll have to endure another war where the price of gas hits five or ten dollars gallon. But it's wasted breath. Republicans have lost their minds and reason when it comes to Obama. They can't see straight, think straight, talk straight, and they just make their minds up to believe anything bad about Obama and their own country. We have to either negotiate away those nukes like we did the Syrian chemical weapons, with the Republicans being the absolute damned enemy of the United States policy at every turn,,,or go to war or let them get nukes. There aren't any other options.

Benghazi was worse than anything Nixon did. We know how that turned out.
Bengazhi was an uncoordinated attack on an unprepared consulate. If that had been a deliberate attack by a determined force we would have been wiped out and lost more than four men, two who died of smoke inhalation and two more from mortar rounds. From the second Mitt Romey heard of the attack he blamed Obama. Among Republicans who believe to their souls that a black Muslim Kenyan born disloyal communist is in the White House, how can facts ever matter? I am loyal to this country regardless of who the President is. I do not now nor have I ever spun up some kind of hatred against our government. We don't always win all the battles, but it's a safe and sure bet that every loss this country has Republicans today will blame on Obama and they will deny any victory. I couldn't be beaten into such disloyalty to our nation.

My kids laugh at Republicans. It's embarrassing for them to find out I ever was one, and I try and explain that Reagan was an optimist and I never have believed in one paranoid right wing conspiracy theory in all my life, and yet still, I'll bet they wonder if the old man wasn't just as crazy as all the rest of the right wingers they see out there today.

I don't know if the Republican party was as great as I thought it was, but it was nothing at all like this asylum of right wing madness it became. Or at least I don't recall being a right winger,,,if I ever was one. I can't remember my views having changed all that much.

The right answer to a political question is hardly the most extreme right wing or left wing answer. You can raise the minimum wage too high, and cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. Or you can set it too low, and create and maintain an impoverished underclass of poor people. But today a Republican thinks the minimum wage is communist and I'm a communist for even discussing it and that everybody that earns minimum wage is a parasite and a taker and that's why Obama won the Presidency.

No. Obama won the Presidency the first time because we were in the worst financial crisis in all of our lives. The second time the Republicans had lost their sanity and the country had no other rational, moderate choice but to vote for Obama.

That's bad, too. We need two viable parties. Democrats don't have all the answers.

But the GOP is not a competent, viable alternative. They might blow up the place, like they promise they will. They actually shut down the government, and blamed it on Obama. They twice came within a few hours of default, and blamed that on Obama too.

Count me out of that sort of behavior. If you want to do crazy right wing stuff you can at least own up to it.

The closest thing to this mass hysteria in our fairly recent history was the complete disgrace and censure of Joe McCarthy. Since there Democrats involved in the communist witch hunts, the GOP didn't bear all the blame or share all the stigma. But this time around, the entire hysteria is confined to the GOP and the radical right, it's wide and deep, from birth certificates to Benghazi to Obama phones to FEMA camps and it's just an endless list of delusions and craziness and radical extremism, and it grows by the hour even yet. The end should be cruel and bitter for the GOP, and it's all their own fault.

When you see somebody so paranoid they think the President's birth is grounds for suspicion, normally intelligent, rational people would run away from all that as fast as they would somebody that believed in little green men coming down from UFO's to snatch people away. They must have thought they could chain and ride such insanity, but it all wound up riding the Republicans.

When even a Missouri Republican gets so fed up with the lunatic right that he inserts an $8 appropriations into a bill to buy tin foil hats to reflect drone and/or black helicopter radiation from opponents of Common Core, the end can't be far off.

http://www.columbiatribune.com/blogs/be ... f6878.html

Crazy, wrong, and paranoid is no way to go through life, and it's death for the political party that embraces it.

If all this "right-wing paranoia" is wrong and going to destroy the Republican Party, then why are you worried about it. That just means it is a boon for the Democrats and they should take control of the entire government again and fix everything. If that happens I expect all the worlds problems to be solved by 2020 otherwise, I expect you to go shoot yourself in the face.

SXO did you just get your first tv 5 years ago ,because it seems to me if I remember rite that MSNBC CNN ABC were ALWAYS critical of G W Bush. They and your political constituents always talked down our government .Funny how short your memory[almost as bad as my spelling because I didn't learn anything at school] because it was not that long ago. Oh yea for the record I LOVE my country ,but our government scares the hell out me .History proves its a worthwhile concern. :| cheers Icemon

I miss George Bush. The Tea Party right wingers make George Bush look good.

Bush didn't drag his knuckles on the ground and leave a trail as he walked. He had classy, intelligent people such as Condi Rice and Collin Powell around. Even Dick Cheney would pay the bills on time. Bush made a mistake about Iraq having a nuclear weapons program, but it was a mistake. And when the financial markets froze up and we were all faced with a Great Depression, it was George Bush that took swift, vigorous, and decisive action through the Federal Reserve and the Treasury to pump massive amounts of money into the system. He saved every one of us from God only knows what kind of financial calamity, and nobody can ever take that away from George W. Bush.

Yet, somehow, in only about five years, the GOP has became a haven for every foul mouthed, rude, reactionary, paranoid, right winger that in years previous you'd expect to find in militia camps or insane asylums. It's been a disaster for the GOP brand name beyond any calculation.

It's gotten so bad for the GOP that they get good press for not doing something nuts.

We need two viable political parties. We have only one, the Democrats. That's bad for all of us.

That's really bad for gun rights, too. It's not conservative ideas that are paranoid. It's just the conservatives that have hijacked the GOP and made it a laughingstock of conspiracy theories and foul mouthed, angry, name calling, paranoid, right wingers that are giving conservatism the bad name.

Oh yeah you can always count on the 99% to be pinky up, tea cup polite huh?
Those "rude reactionaty rightwingers" crap on cop cars? Set fire in the streets? Tip over cars? riot? Even leave a park dirty? Been the cause of a single arrest? Blow it out your lyin' azz SX.
And the rest of us rightwingers have a few things you might want to take account of. lawyers (actual good ones) guns and money. Send in your clowns.
