New member here just checking in. I have been hunting and around guns my whole life but fairly new to shotgun shooting. Took the wife out and we shot some trap and she liked it so hopefully this is something we can do together for fun. Didn't want to get too crazy with the guns until I am sure she will stick with it and we get better at it. Bought 3 O/U's for now. A Beretta Silver Pigeon I 12ga, a Mossberg Silver Reserve II 20ga, and a Silma M-80 (Italian made) 12ga. Hopefully these will fit the bill for the time being and we will see how things go from there. I am finding a lot of good info here so thanks again.

Welcome to SGW! If you update your profile to include your general location, it might be of some benefit to other members of the forum.

Good luck with your new sport. I love trap shooting.

Welcome from Austin -try out some Sporting clays as well -i think they have a real good club by you in Dallas.
Those are some nice shotguns.

Not sure any of those are going to fit a woman very well, at least out of the box. If they don't fit, recoil is going to be much more of an issue. Watch that she doesn't get beat up. A Beretta semi auto with stock shims might be something to watch for, for your wife.

We had her shoot one with a youth stock and she really disliked it. She actually shot a 20ga Yildiz that day and preferred the full size stock. I think I will have a Kickeez recoil pad added to the Mossberg and go from there. If she likes it and sticks with it I don't have a problem maybe getting something nicer.

Go to the ladies section and read rollins oswalds topic. It is something like why shotguns don't fit women.
