I'm seriously considering coming this year. Tell me, do they have a "bar" like 4 B's? Pay by the drink? Bring your own? What's the deal?

Thanks!

Every body seems to bring their own but there is also a lot of sharing going on.

OK, it's as official as it's gonna get: absent major unforseen circumstances, I'm going to Algers Flats!

My next question: Do I need to reach out to them, or am I safe just "showing up" with Larry? I'm going to drive to his place, then we're going to travel to AB together.

Thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to give Tyler a call just to let him know. Phone # in PM

I ran a local shoot to retrieve field trial today with Bode and Rebel as a warmup for Alger Flats. Out of 18 dogs from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, Bode took first place, finding 5 birds in under 15 minutes and Rebel came in fourth with three birds. Really pleased with my boy's performance, especially the 9 year old Bode with the surgically repaired rear leg. Rebel at 4 years old is looking like the real deal, beating 14 field trial experienced dogs.

Departing for Alger Flats early on Thursday morning and should be there about dusk. See you all there.

Hard to believe Bode is already 9 yrs old. Lookin' forward to seeing everybody. Just hope to shoot better than I did last month when I was over there - I really stunk it up. Still had a blast and this trip will be no different, except hopefully for my shooting.

You think your shooting sucks now, wait till you start training your pup. If you can, you ought to line up a shooter for your dog training sessions, cause 90% of your attention will be on your dog. A couple of years ago, I had some quail set out to work Rebel and Bode before my western trip. Running the pup, you would have thought I had just picked up a shotgun, and wasn't sure which end to use. Put up the pup and got out Bode and I couldn't miss.

Just looked at the weekend forecast on the Weather Channel, and Saturday and Sunday may be a bit soggy. Bring your rain gear and rubber boots.

Gentlemen,

It is with deep regret that I must cancel my plans to be in your company this weekend.

I have been recently diagnosed with diabetes, and the poisons my doctors have prescribed are playing havoc on my system as I try to acclimate to this situation. I felt much better before I started all this.

Dang, that is tough. Hope you get things stabilized soon. Welcome to your "Golden Years", certainly not for the faint of heart.

I think my "Golden Years" are behind me, I think they need to come up with a better definition of the 65+ years. :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

I'm at Larry's house this evening, he and his lovely wife Sarah are most wonderful hosts! We expect the be there tomorrow!

Larry and I are on the road back to his place. As expected, we had an excellent time. Lots of shooting, both birds and the bull.

You were definitely missed Joe. I heard that on more than one occasion. I enjoyed meeting Larry and Dan. And had a great time sharing so much field-time with John this trip, and Rex a bit as well, including getting to see that shot through the trees of that high, vertically ascending bird and of course the bird that refused to die and wanted to hang out in your truck behind the kennels :) (hope that knee recovers quickly for you). I had a great time running with Curtis per usual chasing around Max and Tricksie. And enjoyed seeing that shot that took two birds down simultaneously. Thanks as always to Tyler and Tom, and TJ, for a great time. I look forward to doing it again.

As always a great weekend. Joe, Rob, and Jon were all missing and missed. Hopefully next year will see you return to the best southern bobwhite hunting spot there is. Larry (Gig 'Em) and Dan were a welcome addition to the hunt - it was great to see both of you again after 3 years.

Good times in the field, good times in the lodge, lots of the usual BS flying around - talk of dogs, birds, shotguns, football, and of course good spirits shared by all.

Tyler, Tom, and TJ worked their butts off to make the weekend what it was for us, and the "fly-in" group that spend all of 5 hours but had a great time.

Rex I know you made it home after your all-nighter, hope that knee gets back to normal quickly.
