Hunting with the Village Idiot last week in So Dak.
He somehow managed to strip the threads in the barrel for choke tubes.
Blew out the choke the first day.
Told him to use a different gun on day 2, nope, puts another choke tube in and blows that one out!
Can the barrel be rethreaded or does it need to be cut and then recut?
New barrel?

OUCH! That may hurt a little bit. I don't know if the threads could be re-cut in the same location, but my guess (without seeing it) is "no".

Likewise, I doubt that the barrel could be shortened by 3" or 4" or whatever and then have choke threads cut into the shortened barrel.

My guess at this point with what little info I have is that he may be best off to epoxy a choke tube into place in that barrel and just use it as a fixed choke gun. If done right, I think the epoxy would hold. Or he could just shoot it without a choke tube and in effect have a Cylinder (no choke) choke. I'd probably just epoxy an IC or LM choke in place and call it good.

Contact Briley and see if their Thin-Wall option will work in your barrel

Does he happen to be using Tru chokes? There are 2 different sizes in 12 gauge, .795 44 threads per inch, and .775 44 threads per inch (thin walls). Since they are both 44 threads per inch, the small ones will screw in and tighten, but blow out when you shoot it.

Just a thought

They are original Benelli chokes.
How do you strip the threads?? Cross threading?

By firing the gun with the choke tube loose enough to let the wad catch the choke tube skirt and blow the choke out of the barrel. It's been done many times. If the barrel was mine, I'd take Virginian's advice and send it to Mike Orlen.
