I had some other loads to chronograph so I thought I'd try what the OP is looking for 572 in a 1 1/8 oz. load. The load I used was not exactly the same as the Hodgdon. I did not have the Podium wads. I used a CB1100-12 wad. I tried to use a CB1118-12 but it was way too short. I can't believe that the Podium 12P18 wad won't be too short also, because 572 is very dense. All the other components are exactly as Hodgdon states in their data for 572 and 1 1/8 oz. load at 1200 FPS. I shot 3 warming rounds. Chronograph start screen was 2' from the muzzle and I used a baffle. The reloading room temp was 58 degrees F, and has been for a number of days. The ammunition was exposed to 35 degrees F for less than 5 minutes.
Here is the work sheet:
It is my opinion after having worked with 572 with a number of 1 oz. and 1 1/8 oz. loads in the 16 gauge that 572, is not at its best when used in the larger gauges, especially with a little foo foo load like this one. Add in some cold weather and it down right fails. The above, was not influenced to any great extent by the 35 degree temps. I literally have to walk outside about 125' from my reloading area to the chronograph. 3 warming shots, reset the chronograph and have at it. I also chrono'd some 16 gauge stuff, which did not suffer the same as this 12 gauge load. I will post that in another thread.
