I saw some Federal High Over All hulls on the ground today: Federal Premium High Over All Ammo 12 Ga 2-3/4 1-1/8oz #8 Shot 2-3/4

They appeared to be one piece, but not compression formed like the Remington GunClub or Winchester AA. They appear different from the Federal Gold Medal, being smooth plastic.

Does anyone have any comments about how they load and how durable they are?

Well, copying the STS in a different color is simply a cost-saving move, and I figured as long as they were cost-cutting, won't be long till they're using steel heads, as well.
TBH I'm actually extremely surprised Vista kept the STS hull and dumped the Gold Medal. I always assumed the GM hull would have been much cheaper to produce.

I'm curious as to what Vista will do with the subgauge hulls in the long run. If you look at Remingtons target hull history for the past half century, they're way overdue for the next generation. There really isn't a clear winner b/w STS and GM in the 28 and 410 (both being WAY behind the AAHS), although the STS is clearly superior in 20ga. My hope would be that they ditch the STS and GM hull completely in the 28 and 410 and clone the AAHS.

Federal is advertising 28 gauge and 410 HOA shells. So it should not be long tell we know. How the federal premium target line is going. Unless something has changed in the last two months. Contrary to what some others are saying. The HOA line(12 gauge) is manufactured 100% in the Remington factory.( Family member works there)

Federal has been advertising the HOA in 4 gauges, but as of yet is only able to produce a few 12 ga. loadings. A lot of currently unavailable target shells in their catalog. It appears that the white plastic Gold Medal Grand that replaced the maroon version has been discontinued, probably in favor of the HOA. Only the paper GM is listed. Hard to keep up with all the changes happening at Federal. Looks like the wound paper base wad has been eliminated in favor of their own unique plastic version, which may have been developed to better accommodate the Flite Control Flex Wad used in some field loads. As most of you know, Vista also owns Estate, CCI, and several other ammo related companies. Picked up an Estate once fired hull recently, and was surprised to find a wound paper base wad in it along with a CCI primer. Vista sold Savage Arms recently to placate the anti gun crowd and is in the process of separating the ammo brands from the rest of their outdoor products.

Over half of Vista's brands are shooting or shooting adjacent. That's like telling GM to dump the automobile business. These ESG investor groups need to be told where to go. They are nothing but the Wall St version of what has taken over the big city DA's.

Yes you will still see paper base wad hulls. They have been out of production at least three years. People are pulling out old stock and shooting. I have a few flats from that time frame myself. Someone was shooting Remington RXP shells last week.

I think Federal replaced the FGM hull with the Grand hull before they bought the Rem ammo plant. The Grand was not that well received by market. After they bought the Rm ammo plant, new options arose. Hence, the HOA. It would have been a mistake to dump the STS. Most of what they paid for when they bought the Rem ammo plant was intellectual property in the form of the Remington, STS and Nitro trademarks.
