@Mule head. Yep, used is the way to go, if you can find what you're looking for. It's not like old Mec loaders wear out. Just need to watch out for missing parts as those are big bucks these days too. That conversion I mentioned in a earlier post was well over $100. Seems like a lot for what they consist of.

Price for reloaders is one of the reasons I run a Reloaders for Youth Program. In fact, with the cold weather here, I'm due to tune up what I have and get them out of my basement. I don't shoot in the cold of winter. Instead I work on loaders.

I have two 762R's for sale in 12 and 20 gauge (in great working order) for under $300.00. There are reasonable deals out there. Folks just have to look for them. And folks who have them are smart enough not to give them away.

This is nothing but a for sale ad posted in the wrong forum without the necessary paper work.

.
They have been for sale in the "Classified Other Classified" forum since Oct. 8, 2022.
Suggestion for you: edit your title and put the model numbers in. I searched earlier, by title and didn't find anything.
Go here (at red circle) at the very top of your thread and select "Edit Thread" which will allow you to edit the thread title.

I upgraded from a Lee Load All II to a 600 jr. Actually just received it this morning. It was $284 from MEC.
Good luck with it. You won’t need any luck. They (MEC) put out a good product. I’ve been using theirs
Stuff since about 1979. Still have my first MEC. Versa-MEC in 12 ga. An old farmer I worked for as kid and dove hunted on his place for many years, shortly before he passed gave me his 600 jr., we ran a lot of dove loads on them.

I'm impressed with it so far. The crimps come out so much cleaner. That's the main reason I bought it. The one I bought is a 20 gauge. I'll be ordering a 12 gauge in a couple of weeks.

Amazing how time flies. 50 years ago I was 20 years old. Oh well!
Me too! Only thing, time going by so fast, seems like I'm missing 10 years or so. Oh well, I say I'm young at heart & I have a youthfull mind... just the rest of the body has a hard time keeping up.

I’m from PA, we have a local online classified site that you can sell guns and ammo and all the good stuff. I’ve been watching MECs when they come up for sale. I haven’t seen a used single stage one advertised for less than $250. Someone has (2) for sale right now with some hulls and primers and stuff, they want $500 for the whole lot. It’s just the world we live in.

on another note, I picked up a brand new lee load all 2 last year on Craigslist for $20. Deals are still out there, but they are hard to find.

Used stuff is out there too, sometimes cheap. Recently at auction I bought an old Honey Bair (think early Pacific) 12 gauge loader. Appeared to be all there so I rolled the dice and bought it for $3.45. Needed a new wad guide finger, it uses Hornady fingers. Cleaned and adjusted her and been loading on the old machine ever since. Works great. Put my MEC's to the side while I play with this one.

I am wheeling and dealing all the time. Hardly a week goes by I don’t buy a gun or related items. I can tell you that in general the best deals are found from individuals before the stuff finds its way on line or into shows.
I do have the luxury of living in rural area where most everyone hunts or shoots. The participation in Trap is way down the past 10yrs. Quite a few were into loading. A lot of the stuff went in yard sales for short money. Bag of shot going for more than the press.

Was that about 20 years ago?

~$265 today
~3.5% average inflation (1.035)
~20 years

$130 x 1.035^20 = $258.67
A better way to do this whereby to determine pricing in the past is to use negative years, whereby for this example:

$265 (today) x 1.035^-20 ~= $133.18 (20 years ago)
$265 (today) x 1.035^-50 ~= $47.45 (50 years ago)

Yes, if you can go to garage sales, omg. Retired guy at the club watches for loaders for me.

I guess I really do live under a rock. A big one at that. I went on line to check availability on some plastic shotshell boxes. Have found over the years these are great for hunting shells that get bounced around some in a crate in the back of my truck.

I was not looking at presses but they came up and could not help but see what a couple of single stages were costing now. A 600 Jr. is going for $330 and a Sizemaster for $480. This is totally absurd. Especially in a time when most components are not available. In these times it is tough for a person to get started in shotshell reloading. I’ve been reloading for many many moons, I love it, I enjoy it. But this BS with components is totally absurd. Component wise I’m in good shape but can’t find certain item I want. Price gouging on everything out there is unreal. This has nothing to do within political circles. It is totally on the manufacturers fleecing loyal customers most lifelong. Supply chain and Covid is more BS, this shortage is a well orchestrated scam by big business.
the main reason it is tough for young guys to get into shooting is because 70-80 year old guys buying every component possible to add to their extensive stash
