I have an old double barrel 20 ga and I can't find any info on it. On the underside it says LA CHARITE-S/LOUIRE and above that is FAUCON. The top has a stamp that says HELICE. Under the barrel it stamped ACIER FIN and 399.
Any help on what it is and a value would be greatly appreciated.

interesting... Is there any way to know who made it? and by the way it is a 16 GA not 20 GA

I can say that 65 means 2-1/2" chambers

It carries standard Poudre T proof, for a 16g load of 2.43 Dr. Eq. - 2.7 Dr. Eq. with 1 oz. shot, or the standard U.S. 16g Game Load of 1 oz. at 1165 fps
65 = 2 1/2" chamber
Acier Special is just a tradename
The mark at the top is very likely the maker's mark. Can you chalk it and post a full size close up?
Unfortunately French proof did not include a date code

"Acier Fin" translates to "fine steel".

Not near enough information to provide any estimate of value.
Is it a boxlock? Side-plated boxlock? Sidelock?
Barrel length? Choke?
We need images of the action and wood.

It is a 16g, with limited market interest, even less so with short chambers.

It is in high condition and would be a desirable bird gun BUT the short chambers will significantly limit the market.
It carries only standard proof and with the light weight barrels I would strongly advise against lengthening the chambers.
