Both crossing show pairs on report appeared 45 degrees right and 1’ above a tall brush line 10 yds in front of the stand.

On the second pair for score, a bird was slightly lower and did not appear until dead ahead.
Might have been wind or machine.

I called it a No Bird.

Any disagreements.

Even though this is an old thread, but the first time I have read it. Sounds to me like Sporting Clays is getting to be a game of "cry babies" Life does not give you "do overs", what it gives you is move on and "GET OVER IT"âť—âť—

NO BIRD...If the wind pushes the target into a tree or ground before it could be normally shot. Otherwise...LOST.

Agree with this. In most cases, wind effected targets remain in play and must be attempted and scored. As noted, if a gust drives it into the ground or a tree early....then no bird and reshoot the pair. Also, if the wind blown target is going to create a safety issue then call it off and no bird.

The vast majority of the time, a wind effected target can be safely engaged. We play this game outdoors and yes....sometimes it can be very windy. Sometimes you just have to laugh at what can happen to a clay target just as you trigger the shot on a windy day.

Irregular sporting targets are very common. We shoot outdoors. Most of us are acknowledging that and stating you need to deal with it and shoot em or make the attempt.

I agree, I’m just having a hard time believing this is a question. entire game of sporting was predicated on a irregular targets. But like many other sports, it turns into a situation, where it begins to get dumbed down in order to attract more participants, hence more money for the promoters. Thank God, you can’t do much about irregular targets in live pigeon shooting. ✌
