I've been shooting skeet for a little over a year with a perfectly fine Beretta 682, but once I made the mistake of shooting my buddy's K-80, the search began!

I managed to score a great deal (relative to Krieghoff prices) on an older 28" K-80 with a carrier barrel, ported 12 gauge barrel, and Kolar tubes that looks as if it has rarely left the case in 35+ years.

Has it magically improved my scores? Not yet... I shot a 21 and 23, but that is to be expected with a new gun (at least, that is what I'm sticking to).

There is something about that solid, substantial feeling: like the "thud" of shutting an old car door when you close the action and the crisp trigger with the short reset. Did I need it? Will it magically put me in AAA? Nope. But, in my opinion, it was completely worth it.

What is not to like on the K gun. Hooded latch lock up, so less blow by into your face during shots, and since mech triggers, no trigger weight staking like on the non drop out trigger B O/U guns.

Plus, short of the 682 gun with mobile chokes, before B went to the over bored lighter barrels to lighten up the guns for low mount sports, the K guns are heavier in a match gun, and weight does help the gun to track the target better, including getting to to the second grab point before the gun goes dead in swing itself.

Bottom line, the only people that don't like the K-80's, are the the ones that have never owned one, or look down at them for the price they cost up front instead.

As for where you may have gone short on the K gun, the pro sporters mid adjustable rib is the bomb to dial in where the gun will shoot, allows from a bit more heads up shooting. Also not starting out with a super scroll, but will end up there in the end once more funds become available.

And the funny one, what the used/new guns are going for now, verses a decade ago, a steal in any form now.

If your gun is producing blow-by, it is off-face and should be repaired.

Great setup; I love a shorter gun for all games. Having that separate carrier for the tubes makes for a fun day shooting whatever you want and not worrying about pushing your tubes down a dirty 12 gauge barrel.

P & K are the two essential nutrients in farming. Especially potatoes, which I have been a part of raising in Idaho for 45 years. Also in shooting, Perazzi and Krieghoff. Own both and love both of them. The Krieghoff has been the one in the shooting rack the last 3 years..Parcour X as close of a replica to a Perazzi swing as their is with mechanical triggers. Enjoy your Krieghoff and go shoot a few thousand rounds thru it. Nothing better than a new gun feeling.

The only thing that puts me off a K gun is people praising that the internals look like a Swiss watch. I own a few Swiss watches and I’d never work on any of them.
I love my K-Guns. But more like a German Erector set. Lol.
