Am I correct this should not be removed for cleaning? Seems like it would require fair amount of force and doesn’t come off easily.

You can buy just the ring or the entire valve (including the ring) as replacement parts, so there must be a way to get that ring on there and be OK. I just purchased both to have ready in the bag for a new-to-me A400 Xcel as others have commented that these parts sometimes give people trouble. This was from Midwest Gun Works. YMMV

It looks like removing the ring will cause it to bend so I have never removed mine. Beretta puts in on there so it must have some flex. I have a friend who is not into cleaning guns. He just buys a new piston/ring every year!

Interesting assortment of brushes. Any chance you might post what they are and where you got them?
I just pulled that pic off the internet but Harbor(China) Freight had a 5 pack assortment last time I bought some. Home Depot has the one that fits inside cup on barrel to clean up after scraping crud out. might need a touch of trimming at times but cleans it up nicely.

I just leave mine soak overnight and blow dry. These pistons don't need to sparkle. Im just not that anal about cleaning gas gun pistons.
On more complex pistons like the Browning Active valve style the solvent dunk is the way to go. I am actually getting ready to order an extra 12 and 20 to rotate, keeping round count consistent for wear.
