All,
Apologies if this comes off as a bit of a rant but at this point I'm getting seriously pissed off and could use some advice (and I also want this thread to exist as a warning to those thinking of a Rizzini).
Here's the backstory: in Februrary of 2024 I put in an order with Rizzini USA for a custom BR550 with some upgrades and a stock made to my dimensions. They connected me with someone at the factory back in Italy and I got all the options I wanted selected. The ordering process went pretty painlessly and I (foolishly) decided to write a check for the full amount up front, thinking I was saving myself some hassle. They mentioned they'd contact me to select a stock blank as part of the wood upgrade I went with. Anyway, I sent in the check, they told me to expect delivery in Nov-Dec 2024, and I went on with my life.
Fast forward to October and I emailed the sales rep I'd worked with to check in on the gun and ask about the blank, he told me they hadn't started on the gun and he'd let me know when they did. No big deal, I wasn't in a rush.
In the meantime, I've gone to a few NSCA shoots over the past summer and winter and realized that the gun I'd configured from Rizzini wasn't going to be heavy enough for long competitions and that I really needed something else. No big deal, I figured, I'll just get in touch, cancel the order, eat the cost of the deposit, and that's that.
So, two weeks ago I email my sales rep contact to ask about canceling the order. I didn't say anything offensive, just politely asked if I could cancel the order because I didn't think the configuration would work well anymore. A week went by and he didn't reply, so I figured no big deal, maybe he left the company or something.
I gave it another few days and then gave them a call; the person who answered the phone routed me to the sales department, which didn't pick up the phone and I got sent to a full voicemail box.
Since that didn't work, I then sent an email to their general contact address asking (politely, of course) if I could cancel an existing order I had. I immediately got a reply from their sales manager - I think she thought I was pissed about the delivery date (I wasn't, I just asked if I could cancel) and she replied that the delivery times were taking longer than expected and that it would be done this May, while ignoring my request to cancel.
I followed up with a reply clarifying that the date was no problem, I just didn't think the gun would be heavy enough for competitions and that I wanted to go with a different route. Despite immediately replying to my first email, she then never responded to this one that I sent 4 days ago.
So today I called up the front desk again and asked if I could talk to the sales department, the person at the front desk said "no problem" and then routed me to an extension that didn't work and the call dropped. When I tried to call back again they stopped answering the phone.
So, folks, what do you all think I should do here? I recognize that fundamentally I'm partially at fault here, as I'm the one asking to cancel, but in my defense a) they haven't started working on the gun, and b) I'm perfectly fine if they keep my deposit, I just want the other chunk of the money back.
They're about a 2.5 hr drive away, do I just go down in person? Do I have a lawyer call them up? Not entirely sure what to do here, and I have a sneaking suspicion they're deliberately ignoring me because I got suckered into sending my full order price over initially.
