To a gunsmith, as opposed to having a local gunsmith work on it (for whatever reason)? And if so, how many have had shipping hassles?
How would Coles, Briley, gun shops and other gunsmiths across the country exist if you couldn't reliably ship a gun for purchase or service?Sadly there is not a carrier out there I would trust anymore. I have before but never again.
Gun and Trophy will cover most causes of loss while shipping. Cosmetic losses are not covered.I have shipped guns to gunsmiths/stockers many times. Never an issue. Plus, my Gun & Trophy insurance will cover if there is ever an issue.
While technically true, it can be done so that an individual can ship a gun. Some gun manufacturers or servicers will email you a shipping label, usually after you've filled out a service request online. Pack the gun, print out and attach the label, and then drop off the package at a UPS or FedEx shipping center like you would anything else. Apparently this works because when done this way the FFL (gun company) is both the shipper and the receiver.Guns and gun parts can no longer be shipped UPS or FedEx by an unlicensed person. Must be FFL on both ends.
