Ok, I need an education on the Browning Ultra Sporters. My main question is what is the difference between this gun and the XS models? Approximate year of manufacture for the silver receiver and the blued receiver? The Ultra receiver material, steel or alloy? What chokes will they take Invector, Invector plus?

Thanks for your help!!!

According to Browning, the Ultra Sporter debuted in 1995, seemingly at the same time that the Plus disappeared. I have a Ultra Plus Sporter that dates to 1996, chrome receiver, Invector Plus chokes. Since the Ultra began after 1993, all of them should be Invector Plus. These were good n' heavy target guns; the receivers are all steel.

There is little difference in features or fit between the current XS Sporters and the Ultras. Not sure when the receivers went from blue (like the GTIs) to chrome, so I'll leave that for another to answer...
