Nice gun. I was looking at one the other day at a shop down here. They just got it in. Too bad they dont make it left handed anymore or I might have had to order one.

You're absolutely correct.Rem396 said:Keep in mind on guns that you bought second hand the barrel codes may only date the barrel adn not the receiver. The receiver serial number can be used by Remington to date the receiver. They will do it as a courtesy over the phone.

letters stamped closed together on the left side of the barrel,
close to the receiver. The first one is the month, the second is
