I am looking for a first gun and have decided between a pump 870 synthetic or a 1100 synthetic in 12 gauge. What do you think would be a good first gun. Can anyone point me to reviews or anything? Thanks.
I've owned two of the 1100 shotguns both in 12 gauge. The first had a wood stock and my second has a synthetic. I took my father out shooting skeet one day and he just had to have my 1100 so I sold it to him. I bought my synthetic 1100 to replace it. The synthetic feels a little heavier but it seems to help me with my swing when shooting skeet. I like the looks of an all black shotgun. This one will stay with me forever.
I've had two 1100s and I think they are great guns! One was a field gun, the other trap. I never had any problems with either of them. Another gun you might want to consider (there is a $100 rebate on them right now) is a Winchester Super X2, 3-inch synthetic. I've been using mine with target loads, including 1 oz, with no problems and... you can shoot some magnums too! It gives you a little more versatility, but fits different than an 1100.
