shot one time on nice bunch of mallards , after removing barrel
noticed the sleeve that goes over magazine was cracked all the way thru, front to back not at silver soldered area but about
3/8 of an inch from that on inside radius, gun is evereral years old but this must be a defective part do you think remington will
make this good ? gun is definately out of warranty

I think (you're/he's) talking about the actual barrel lug that's solcered to the barrel, not the action sleeve or any of the pistons or seals... Something's definitely wrong there. How long have you (personally) had this gun? What do you know about its origins?

With a potentially dangerous issue like a cracked gas cylinder, I'd be willing to bet that Remington will fall all over themselves trying to replace it. It's certainly worth a phone call.
