i have recently acquired a 16 gauge shotgun from my father and would like any info anyone can give me.

the only markings i have found are as follows

on the barrel it says proof tested-16 gauge,
on the bottom just forward of trigger in front of where you load
it is stamped with a circle with a B stamped in the center.
on the left side of gun it is stamped Ranger with a man riding a horse. behind the trigger in between the 2 rivets it is stamped
u 36445.and on the but of the gun it reads
WHITE LINE
Pachmaur gun works u.s. patent D 191,443

pump or semi-auto? No roll marks like 101.xxxx?

it is a pump.
not sure what you mean by roll marks but i dont see any other markings

I'm thinking it's based on a Savage model 30 http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976328298.htm note the forearm narrows towards the front

Hopefully the price they showed in the gunbroker auction wasn't a shill or sheild, here's the Bluebook values for comparison..
